I had the same problem as op and steam resetted the key for me so I could activate it on the right account. But op should create a ticket as fast as possible to get his key resetted.

Yes this is true, more precisely you can ask for a cancellation of the license of said game. The next step is insistence and ass kissing until they stop sending you automated replies and actually deal with your ticket.

You should mark the gift as received and play using your 2nd account when you want to play Torchlight II.
The gifter got you the game just fine.
Steam won't move it for you.
You can't remove it from the account.
Suck it up and play :-)

They'd have to check, first. Frankly, I doubt most people check.

Do you want to bet there was someone who already checked your account right after you wrote it? :)
Tons of people check it. They check OPs of "30 CV, help" threads. They check OPs of various QQ threads. Lots of gift-givers check if person who won their gift didn't break rules.

Nope, Steam can't help you now, as the key is locked to your account and can't be redeemed to another account. Steam keys are locked to the account you used to redeem the game. They can delete the game but you won't get another key or a refund.

Had that with the Battlepillars key, I mean I got it for free anyway, but I really wanted to play it yesterday only to see that I activated it on the wrong account :(
Hope you get your game back ;)

I use a second account for farming bundle cards, letting my family play Plants Vs Zombies (this was before Family Sharing) and to get extra votes and cards during holiday events on Steam.
Comment has been collapsed.
Dude, use family sharing.
define the second account as family, and play games from its library on your own steam account...
look it up in google :)

Don't you need to be on the gifted account to redeem a gifted game?

If you ask about receiving SteamGifts from mail - no.
I've made one puzzle giveaway of Dead Island Epidemic that way: I sent myself a DI: E gift to mail and then used that link (looks like this: https://store.steampowered.com/account/ackgift/LOTS-OF-LETTERS=1&redeemer=EMAIL@HERE.COM) as answer to too hard puzzle: .
Whoever clicked that link first would get game.

^ this. Gift copies sent to emails can be redeemed on to any steam account depending on which the email recipient is logged in to.

I'd buy the game on my regular account if it were me, figuring it's my mistake so I'll pay. Rather that than risk a possible suspension from SG for non activation of games which would get me kicked out of some of the groups I'm in.
I don't know if that's an option for you. If it isn't then send SG a ticket and see what they say. If you're upfront and honest they could well be understanding.
Alternatively, forget about it and take any suspension coming your way should it be noticed. The length of suspensions seem to be very lenient so it's not like you'd be gone for long.

Loads of people have multiple Steam accounts. As long as they only use 1 here it doesnt matter.
Comment has been collapsed.
That entirely depends on why you have several. It isn't silly if you have good reason to. Just because you dont need several it doesnt mean it is not beneficial for other people.

On Steam? What's wrong with that?
I made mine when I started buying bundles. There were a couple of games in the bundle that I didn't really want, but thought there was still a tiny chance I'd want to play them one day. I created my second account and put them on there so that my normal account would be less cluttered.
Things have changed since then as my main account is now very cluttered indeed. The second account is used when I buy a bundle that contains a game I already own that drops cards. I put the game on there, make the cards drop then trade them to my regular account. I paid for the bundle so why not?

Sure, they're not awesome. I've only made upwards of 100 euros selling cards off of games I own, but they're totally not worth your time, right?

I have 200 cards in my 2nd account, have to wait a few weeks before I can transfer them to my main account. Its worth somewhere between 10 and 30 euros. So yes, its worth it.
I bought COD Ghosts, south park and pre-ordered Watch Dogs just by selling cards and CSGO drops in my main account. I do have a shitload of games though ;), 90% of those I got by being a patient trader and just spending very little real money. (20 euros a month)
but dont underestimate what u can make with a second account

You're forgetting when the cards were a new thing still in beta, and normal cards had the same prices as foils do now, and foils had prices of between 20 - 60 bucks. Also, games drop between 3 - 8 cards a piece, don't forget that.

I don't why I cared at the time, but I did. Things have changed and I now feel differently.
Yes, you're correct in stating that I don't need to get card drops. I'm not going to die or suffer any adverse consequences if don't. However, it's something I choose because I like it.
If we're going to get into what I need to do then I don't need to play games, be on Steamgifts or even type this post. I do these things because I want to as well. If you wouldn't want to get the cards then that's cool, we just have different preferences, 'tis all. Nothing wrong with that.

Had the same problem like you (but i accidentally redeemed the game on my wifes acc)... well I asked steam because of that but they told that they dont move a game... Also i got suspended for 5 days on steamgift because of that (tried to explain to the support and didnt get a shorter time because of "you won, but not activate the game")...

Just explain the situation to the SG staff through a ticket and take the suspension if it comes, as it almost surely won't be permanent as it was accidental. Otherwise your only other option is to actually purchase the game on the correct account, as it's pretty much guaranteed they will not switch games between accounts for you.

Multiple accounts are allowed. Developers that work on different games are encouraged to create more than 1 account.
Show me where in the SSA that MA's are not allowed.

Multiple Steam accounts are allowed, you just can't have them here. As long as TC doesn't have a second account here, it doesn't matter that he has another Steam account.

I had my second account logged into my Steam on the browser.
I went to redeem the game I won on SG (torchlight 2), but I didnt notice that the second account was logged in.
So, now the game is on the wrong account :(
What should I do?
Will steam support move the game?
the second account has 0 games, but was made 5 years ago
