is Terraria a great game?

Sarcasm? I don't wanna run to the guide with every item i find (100+) to find out what to craft with it. I guess i wouldn't even have made it to hardmode without knowing what to do with the doll. I would have missed huge parts of the game without the wiki

Ofcourse it is. I never said it was unplayable without wiki, hence the term "almost". I'm obviously exaggerating to make clear that the wiki is much needed

To be honest, I find using the wiki a bit of a spoiler to the surprises you can find in the game. I found that out the hard way with Minecraft; I browsed the entire wiki for it, and there was nothing much more to find or explore, because I knew it all. All I can say is, playing it without the wiki is more difficult, but it's also a lot more satisfying.

I guess that depends on how excessively you are using the wiki. I used it to find out what my next possibilities are and how i should spend my resources effectively to minimize grinding. That still meant that i had to work for my gear and it definitely was still a huge success to beat every boss and to craft every piece of gear i wanted to have. So far, i have played Terraria for 125h which is a lot for me considering i tend to leave games quickly when i realise i saw everything the game offers. So, i don't think the wiki spoiled me, but i know where you're coming from

I didn't like it at first, but as I learned a little bit more about it I went back and gave it a second chance. It was a lot more enjoyable than my first try.

It got boring to me pretty quick, just like Minecraft. I love both of them, and they're great games, but they don't hold interest well because they're so ridiculously open-ended.

Didn't like the Hard mode so much. But the game is really fun to play (even more if you have friends)

i liked terraria better than minecraft, but thats my opinion. the 2d graphics seem to me more finished and enjoyable, the action and bosses are really good and it has a cool sense of "advancement and completition" even if it has no actual goals and storyline.

I recently started playing it. I wouldn't go as far as "great", but it can provide a decent amount of fun, provided you like the genre (think of it more like an action game than a "minecraft clone", you will need to scavenge for loot, venture out to get better equipment and fight boss battles). If you find the concept interesting, I think it's worth the 2.50$ it's going for at the moment.

In fact you can easily make a backup but steam cloud would help a lot.
