Second attempt at creating some GAs. Read this for the previous attempt.

More info about the previous event can be found in this GA:
https://www.sgtools.info/giveaways/79bd23ec-fc42-11ec-a730-fa163e0a8583

I am keeping this one a lot simpler this time. Note to self: I might need to update this, add some info once I create the puzzle.
Anyway, I hope this event doesn't get spoiled like the last one.

Apologies to the previous participants. I'll try to make up to you guys and contact each one of you .However, since the leaker is one of the participants from the previous event, I'll not be sharing the GA links directly with you. Once again, sorry about that.

1stCheater informed me that my puzzle is kinda useless against those who use ESGST (because of how it formats links apparently). Thanks you!
So, instead, here is something boring but proven. guess I spoke too soon. jigidi is proven to be a bad puzzle for stopping bots!

In case someone knows of any loopholes with the current setup, or has any suggestions for more puzzles, please feel free to let me know.
I am already aware of zelgh magic guide to basic sg puzzling (thanks Frannc for the link)

My notifications/inbox is flooded with messages, specially because I am also pinging all previous participants, so that's personally messaging (as in commenting on their GAs) a few 100s of [mostly active] users here.
So, in case I miss someone's message and don't reply, please forgive me. I certainly didn't ignore you.

Also, to all the welcome-ers, well wishers and bumpers, thank you all!

Update

After about 8 hours, I have informed all the participants from previous event. In case I missed someone, sorry, but I did my best.
Also, I did BL a few along the way (I think just 2 people). Feel free to reach out to me in case you are one of them, preferably on steam.

Success

Just checked the ticket I created after the first event. The accounts I reported have been perma-suspended!
I few less accounts to worry about. Only a few thousand more to go.

Heads up

You might need to set your steam profiles to public in order to pass the SGTools rules.

Update v2 - Leaks Again

Man, this time around the leaks are even worse than before. I mean it seems the leaker didn't even care to read this description even a little. This whole thread is about there being being a leak in my previous event and me having to recreate all the GAs. And if they read the description, I can't believe they can be dumb enough to still leak links this time.
The leak this time is even worse. All 10 GAs have been leaked. There are a total of 59 invalid entries so far, and obviously at least one of the valid entrant is the leaker.

Sadly, this time I am too tired and busy to bother with deleting and then recreating all the GAs once again. So, I'll probably just re-roll if any of the invalid entrants win, or maybe delete just those GAs.

Also, I apologize about this, but expect huge delays with distributing the keys. I'll probably check each winner somewhat intensively, so it's gonna take me a lot of time.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you. One way to prevent such people, is to set a level limit.
Because your inbox is flooded, thank you for the reminder and for the giveaways. And since there is a restart... Happy cakeday! :)

Thank you very much for the small, yet fun puzzle! And thanks for the giveaways.

I didn't know about jigidi not being bot-proof, but it does not surprise me. Modern bots do a lot of shit. Sucks that we can't even have jigidi to stop them, though. And it double sucks that someone leaked your original giveaways.
Not much one can do to have a bit of fun with SteamGifts.

Yeah, it sucks.
Well, at least I am certain that those with the skills to create really sophisticated bots would even bother to cheat on SG. I am sure their time must be a lot more valuable.
From what I have learnt, from the good people around here, there is a script for jigidi that numbers each puzzle piece in order, so the person can just place them correctly with ease. imo, that is not so bad, since it means that the cheaters can't automate the whole process and farm invite only links.
What is weird though is that the one who created that script didn't make the script to auto solve it. I believe if they are able to write the script to detect which piece goes where, they should be able to create the script to auto-solve as well.

And it give the possibility to "freeze/pause" the timer.

In the past got the fastest solvers, often, something from gifters that made jigidi puzzles.
So count 1+1 together how often such a blacksheep got a reward for cheating :o(

The extremest that i seen was a solving time of 1 second because that guy forgot to deactivate the timer pause to have a ""realistic"" time at the end.

And that was the time when it was obvious with the cheat possibility and many reacted to it.

The possibility to cheat was 1-2 years before that available but i don't known it before that case because i never thought someone would (try to) cheat with jigidis.

That's kind of a useless feature imo, and jigidi should run the timer on the server, not the client.

In the past got the fastest solvers, often, something from gifters that made jigidi puzzles.

I have never seen something like that here. Must be before I joined.
I can see why that was a problem.

The extremest that i seen was a solving time of 1 second because that guy forgot to deactivate the timer pause to have a ""realistic"" time at the end.

Lol.. Easy way to find cheaters.

Yeah. And people who make the better bots do so to sell off their creation to someone willing to pay good money for it, and people who purchase such things probably aren't going to go out of their way to use it here. It makes more sense to just buy whatever Steam games they'd like, instead of wasting their time with the occasional raffle with a 1 in 1k chance to win a game. At least that's what makes the most sense to me.

That's quite interesting. Thanks for the info about jigidi.

Maybe it was because I provided them pages of evidence to prove that it was a case of multi-account user?
Thanks!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I did provide lots of evidence. I even archived everything in case the perpetrators private their friendslist or profile, delete their comments, change their username, quit the groups, etc.

I think the problem is that there's not enough staff members to address the tickets in timely manner. My first 3 GA leaker reports were resolved within a month or so. My 4th, with the same amount of evidence as the first 3, has been left open for 10 months by now. If the problem is lack of evidence, support would either ask for more evidence or simply denied my ticket instead of leaving it open for months.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I see. I guess I was just lucky in that case.

Also, if it's been 10 months, I believe it could be possible that newer tickets are prioritized over older one (probably unintentionally) and that your ticket has now been buried under 100s of newer tickets.

Also, just found this thread.

I'm afraid there's no way other than raising the level requirement a little bit to reduce the number of bots and multi-accounters. Sadly, levels 0 and 1 are infested with these. I appreciate you striving for maximum inclusiveness, but by trying to include everyone, you're also, by definition, including all the bots and sockpuppet accounts that don't even read descriptions.

I'm curious what percentage for the invalid entrants are level 2 and above.

Just checked the ticket I created after the first event. The accounts I reported have been perma-suspended!

I'm curious how you managed to get support to perma-suspend those accounts so quickly.

Did you just report invalid winners using "Request New Winner" tickets or did you report all the invalid entrants? If so, which category did you use for your ticket(s)?
I've had tickets in the "User Report" category languish for months with no updates and I know the "Other" category is rarely looked at.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I simply used "User Report". Maybe I was just lucky that some mod saw it.
According to what I have heard about the support so far, it feel that the mods look at the latest tickets first. So, the older it get, the more probable that it will take even longer. Well, that's just my theory.

Darn, this is a bit disheartening, I am sorry for your troubles. Do you mean some accounts which would not have passed the SGTools check somehow entered your GAs? That sucks. :( :(

Anyway, think positively, at least you can report the bad entries; they will not get any games, and they will be suspended from now on.

Cheers!

Edit: wait, it was a JIGIDI, right? So I guess you had more entries than JIGIDI solvers?

Np, I expected it this time, just not to this extend (and stupidity).

Both are true.

at least you can report the bad entries; they will not get any games, and they will be suspended from now on.

Yes, that good, but I need to collect evidence, try to look for the account that leaked them, and also unfortunately I learnt that these suspensions are not permanent.

"Update v2 - Leaks Again"

oh no oh no no😞
That's terrible! After all the effort and generosity you put into this, there's always got to be someone who shits all over things. You deserve better. Fuck.

I cannot understand that mentality. I was raised to not take what I didn't earn, and that's that. They didn't earn the right to enter your giveaways. Disrespectful.

Probably why a lot of people do only WL GAs or group only GAs. Also, I can not understand other's bitterness towards bots/auto-joiners/etc better.

How can someone have over 50 alt accounts and never been found out before??

I believe that sadly the website has no automated system to try prevent such activities. SG relies solely on other users reporting such accounts. I am sure that MSKOTOR talked about something like this just a few days ago.

I know that's why I do it. At least groups have moderators. SG is short on staff and most of the voluntary support staff is overwhelmed with having to police idiotic situations like these. Groups mods can't delete or reroll GAs but at least they can kick offenders out.

SG relies solely on other users reporting such accounts

And even then, they have to get to the part where they deal with those. Poor bastards. It's like fighting a hydra with a toothpick.

Anyway, real sorry you put all these efforts (and all the time you're still going to have to waste on checking winners) just to celebrate your cakeday, and the effort is well appreciated. Your puzzle seemed pretty cool in the previous attempt so I hope you do more.

That's true. And I believe if SG was more severe with it's punishments (like "real" permanent suspension) like in some of the steam groups, and had some rules about playing the wins, then maybe, just probably, that would improve things a bit.

Your puzzle seemed pretty cool in the previous attempt so I hope you do more.
