Well it's rather simple actually. Just stop buying games on steam until they change their policy... But almost nobody is willing to do it.

I love how his excuse is "What if you have a friend in another country and you wish to give them a game as a gift?" yet hes from Minnesota...more like you want to receive gifts from Russian traders. Dont get me wrong, I would love Russian prices, but its not intended to be used that way so I'm not going to cry about it.

Yes, have a talk with the GA maker first, then if he/she can't give you a non-locked key, mark it as not received. Otherwise you could be suspended.

Where is the petition to tell steam great job at region locking. Good Job Steam your the best! (Not Sarcasm I actually like how they implemented the new region locked system)

You people know that it's the publishers who decide on region locking, not the seller, right? So even if a billion people sign up Steam won't be able to do anything about it…

yup, Steam is just a distribution platform, like amazon, but for games.

If a publisher decides to only publish in the US it's their right to do so.

They implement those features because their customers demand it and by customers I mean business partners (publishers, developers, etc.) and not gamers.

If you want to make a Capcom VS. Marvel game you contact both IPs and if they agree you can make it, no rocket science at all.

For a long time Square Enix (Final Fantasy) was Playstation only, but they want to make money which leaves them with 2 choices: charge more per game or expand to other markets.

They don't need to work together, they all just want DRM, because it gives them more power to decide who can use their software, it's called capitalism. You give them enough power to kill every competition and they will start sucking you dry.

wut? "thinking about peace and stopping the rival spirit between them?" it's a partnership between 2 companies. they signed a piece of paper and let 3 different developers over the years make games using their characters. it's not some war they chose to have played out through video games.

Not this time though. Steam implemented a global region lock this time.

I bet people on those regions prefer this over price increases or run-time locks.

If they would have more bigger titles I would only buy there, because they allow me to have a copy of the setup files (offline installation how oldschool :D ) and a lot of extras like wallpapers and stuff.

First you should make a petition to your government to increase value of rouble, or keep in mind this sittuation when you go to vote again. I'am against region locks but I understand why it happend. You are lucky anyway coz they could increase prices as well, and it's not the steam itself it's about devs who don't want to sell their games dirt cheap.

Not gonna happen.

Best thing you can do is buy games on all platforms and 'hunt' for lower prices. For games that are region locked on every platform/store, I can only suggest you to get friends in other regions to help you out. But you have to make sure that the game is region locked from buying and not playing in your country.

I do agree with you however. Region locking is simply retarded and can only lead to lower income for publishers, same publishers that then start yelling at the moon that it's not their fault and the pirates are ruining the industry.
