Its just terraria 2.0

Why everyone getting excited?

it is not Terraria 2.0 it is a much much bigger and different game. Though there are things similar Open world and blocks ummm 2d. . . There is the RPG elements. . . NPC's multiple universes. . . Multi-player of up to 100 players (though not sure if that will be kept). The fact that this is a beta. . .

I know you are trolling but nice place to use a plug. People who know what this game is know how epic it will be in 25 min. . . even fully knowing the game isn't done and all info will be constantly wiped.

Lol not trolling. Playing it right now because I have connections ;)

Same as terraria except new terrain, boss fights, and items. Seriously, you haven't probably even played it.

yeah, no, first of all you don't have the game, and second you played terraria for only 0.2 hours, not that trustworthy.

But, there is quite a big difference between games: Terrain, RPG-elements, inspection, exploring, etc. And i'am not saying they didn't got inspired by Terraria (i mean, the dev worked on Terraria), but this is far from Terraria 2.0

Silly person, you don't need steam to play it.

Terraria just recently got "officially" ;)

Btw, steam drm is not the best drm to use.

You say that like "Terraria 2.0" is a thing that people shouldn't get excited over.

It's all through HB and Steam, I doubt there will be any problems with distribution. Possibly some game breaking bugs though.

only a few thus far but it is beta. . . don't get attached to any worlds or characters. . . Chucklefish has stated do not play early beta if you want to see spoilers or huge bugs.

edit: keys will be out right away there is a huge team working on keys dis.

edit: ddos might set the game back a bit.

3 Phases of beta:

Phase 1: Huge bugs, world/character wipes with each updates (almost certain), only up to tier 3 content.(13 tiers or more available on 1.0). (4th December)

Phase 2: Less bugs, no more wipes unless big breaking game bug, tier ?? content

Phase 3: Almost 1.0, no more wipes almost all tier content.

Urgh. So so tempting to play the beta, but I really want to wait until the game is in it's first true v1 launch-state before I start playing.

I don't want to burn out overplaying this BEFORE all the stuff is working and added! D:

then wait another 2 months. . . The official launch is planned around Jan/Feb this time is for massive bug finding and figuring out the best coding for the game. . . like a stress test. As is everyone playing is like a bug hunt.

Edit but the game plays wonderfully

It will not be released in 2 months. That "official launch" was planned a long time ago. There's still a massive amount of content to implement, and despite chucklefish's hardworking developers I doubt it will be done anytime before late 2014. I'm not trying to come across as pessimistic, but I've been following the game for nearly 2 years now and it's best not to get your hopes up.

stage 1 will be these two weeks, stage 2 will be a month and a half. . . according to Bartwe. . . stage three is the last stages. . . this Beta is a true beta. . 90% of the game is working . . if you want to see where the game is fully at follow here.

But this is the first true beta most players have seen in a while. they didn't let it out to public till the game was in this state for a reason.

Aaargh. That last line was just to rub it in wasn't it? WASN'T IT!?
No, no, it's cool. I don't expect you to reply. Not while you're busy having FUN and STUFF. >:(

The temptation to look into spoilers and first-plays is overwhelming.

The game is functional, but it's imbalanced and not at all fun. It also suffers from some interface usability issues. TotalBiscuit and Jesse Cox have started playing the beta, but they shouldn't have. The game just isn't ready for that, and won't be for a couple more months at least.

you don't read much do you?

Edit: sorry hit enter. . . It says on front page just what you said. . . as for TB and Jesse Cox they are doing it because it is in the beta. It is 100% playable many streamers have been streaming for 10 hours plus. . . this is the two week bug hunt.

more people per server. a whole universe to explore. . . missions. . . more items rpg elements . .. . you can make cities. . . much much more. . . right now servers are planned to have over 8 players (some have said up to 100 players. . .

More people per server, yes. Mods can add missions and rpg elements and items. You can make cities in Terraria... I agree, Terraria is better. But this is enjoyable.

I got a question about the multiplayer from the people who have bought the game!

  1. Do we still need to enter an ip address to connect to someone? or are there dedicated servers now?
  2. If there are servers, how many people can join?
  3. Does it start a new game when you join a server or does it continue the one in your single player?
  4. Can you randomly bump into other people on the same server or do they have to be in your party?
  5. oh and I almost forgot, are there already cities in the game? or do you have to build them? if there are, are they functional, like are they just cosmetic or can you buy/sell and do things there?

Thanks a lot :)

right now mp is in beta. . . it can use up to a gig of data heads up.

  1. yes and think mine craft. .

2.there have been servers with over 100 but will be patched

3.yes

4.yes but you have to travel to their planet

  1. no idea

Comment has been collapsed.

  1. yes, you need an ip. there are some dedicated servers now, but its a much better idea at this point to play with friends.
  2. dont know exactly, but there were at least 6-8 people on the last one I was on.
  3. it starts you off in the ship and you all warp down to the same new beginner world. However if you have stuff in your inventory from single player it should still be there.
  4. the beam down spot is the same for everyone, so you should immediately bump into people/ a base if people are playing there. Once people are in a party you can see what direction they are in by the little compass by their names on the right.
  5. No idea about cities yet, but you can build a lot in game and there is tons to find in the 1st world you get, not to mention all the others that have yet to be explored. There have been places found guarded by dudes with laser rifles so yes, there are places to go and npcs to talk to. The story isnt in the beta though, so expect a lot more of that in 4-6 months probably.
