Your apartment, three o'clock in the morning. It's got four walls, a roof and isn't on fire. Even the cockroaches have fled in search of better accommodations. Not exactly a Runner's dream pad... but right now, it's about all your have left.

Running the shadows is all about feast or famine. One day you're novahot, working jobs that allow you to eat at five star restaurants, the next, well, you're here. This one's a famine for the ages. Slagging fixer hasn't called. The money's run out, and then some. SINless and free. Free to starve in the cracks of a society run by megacorps who just want your nuyen.

Something needs to change, and that's when fixers calls. Looks like you've got 24 hours to get to Hong Kong chummers.

What's your specialty?

Decker
Street Samurai
Adept
Shaman
Rigger
Mage
Pikachu

The Rigger is the best, though you'll want to splash a bit of Sam or Decker, depending on if you're going to be in the field with your meat or in a lounge chair slicing through firewalls and making dreker's cry about their emptied accounts. Thanks for the giveaway, omae.
Edit: I suppose this is somewhat topical; I opened my bookmarks tab and then accidentally mashed all my fingers against the keyboard- er, deck- (happens to me a lot) and this came up. Didn't even realize it was still up.

Adept for me, a lethal flesh machine in melee

My characters are always horrible because I make up stupid rules for them. I pick an street samurai that only uses melee, which is a unnecessarilly hard thing to play. My character is also an elf, so the don't have the health or strength to be effective in that position. I also decided that my character is wary of cyberbernetics and refuse to replace her body with them, so I have to rely on other characters to do anything important, like decking. They also don't know magic, so yeah, completely useless.

I like playing a Troll character...mostly Street Sam, wannabe Fixer (after retiring without dying) ^_^
Pity I played 2nd Edition only, and the existing PC games. I really enjoy the setting.

I started playing a Troll adept in Dragonfall but kept getting my ass handed to me on the Apex mission so I switched to rigger. The extra firepower from the bots made all the difference. IMO, you need a rigger on that mission.

Somehow I felt that Adepts are not strong enough for the game. Though I didn't try it for long.
Did you take Blitz or a hired runner? I never hired any of the "temporary" runners, the group was always enough for me. Not that the runs were all easy, but I finished them quickly enough.
I have to admit, I haven't played Physical Adepts in any game (PnP either). Our last shadowrunner team was part of a gang, where the leader was an Adept, and on the main storyline-mission he joined the team...problem was that we stopped playing before shit hit the fan, so I couldn't practice with the Adept... :)

I didn't hire any of the mercs. The team seemed good enough for me but for the absence of a rigger. I think if I played Dragonfall again I may not need a rigger at all or just opt to hire one for specific jobs. A troll adepts seemed like such a good idea and actually he wasn't bad. He hit hard and had plenty of defensive magic to go the distance. I will try the race/archetype combo again in the future.

I played one session of Shadowrun...I decided to be "that guy" and roll a drake mage. They told me they thought I did a pretty good job of it, though, mostly by never turning into a drake or telling anyone I was a drake.

My specialty depends on what I am playing, My favorite character from the pen and paper games I've played was a Kangaroo Shaman wich had my best impression of an Australian accent. In the SNES game I liked the street samurai, and in the more recent PC games I played as a decker..

Drek! Looks like I can't handle this run yet, chummers. Turns out my lvl 4 access card was fake. I mean a fake fake. Damn I thought I could trust the guy. Guess I'll keep observing that funky pizza place while you guys are gone. Sorry Johnson, maybe next time. Good luck in Hong Kong, chummers!
