Guys, I couldn't get onto the steam forums.. soo yeah.. look inside...

I seem to have a problem with my wireless on my PC. Whenever I play a game on steam, the wireless always disconnects for some weird reason and when I alt tab to my desktop as the games running, it reconnects automatically and it starts to work - I can browse while my games in task bar. But when I tab back to the game then tab to the desktop. It's disconnected and then reconnects.

Does someone know what's wrong? I tried googling this problem but had no luck in finding anything.

Can I configure this as it's making me go insane. :/

EDIT: To be clear, my wireless connection disconnects when I alt tab, not the steam application.

So your Steam-related applications wont connect to the net? How do you run Steam then?

Steam can run in offline mode. Besides, haven't you ever played Steam and had a message show up in a chat box along the lines of "You have been disconnected from Steam. Attempting to reconnect."?

Guys, I don't think you understood my question. It's not steam that goes offline. It's my wireless connection.

Check if steam is set to offline. If you're online and it still isn't working try re-installing steam.

You could try setting up the router configuration so the key renewal is set to a limited amount of time, instead of being "on demand", that way the connection resets only when you connect and disconnect from the wireless connection.

If that fails, at least try going wired witht that router, and check if you have the same issues.

Have you tried playing a game in a window instead of full-screen to see if the problem occurs even without alt-tabbing out of the game?

I just played a video so no. I guess it's only when I play a steam game. Which is even more weird.

Whats your bandwidth?, i have up 20kb/s and down 90kb/s. Two persons household, if some of us upload something will be the down slow to 3kb/s and up slow down lower than 1kb/s. Then ur problem comes by be, steam connection loose. Check ur incoming quality. Hope i can help u.

Well, my speed is fine. When I download a game on steam. It goes around 800-900kb. Sometimes 1MB. Once my speed went to 4MB, but it lasted like 4 seconds.
