I think it's good time to get it.

To people who who already have it: Are DLC necessary to enjoy game? How much they add?

It was in the humble monthly about a year ago. Although it is at a historical low, you maybe able to get it considerably cheaper by trading.

Tempting... but I have a feeling it will get bundled sooner or later

I'm calling it: Before the end of year, Fanatical will bundle or Star Deal it, then include it in their most expensive Elite Omega Mystery games

Its like one of those gamer stereotypes ... lmao ... people who are in love with fps and br games tend to judge very harshly indie games and single player games, esp. single player indie games! :D
HOW CAN YOU PLAY SOMETHING TGHATS NOT BLOOD AND SWEAT GUN PLAY BETWEEN REAL HUMANS OR AAA SINGLE PLAYER! I frickin love stereotypes, tho! :P

Doesn't make much sense to me, personally, but the DarkMP mod has been around for half a decade of so, I think. Not sure if it has been updated to be more consistent.

I enjoyed it. Grab it if it's your type of game Or if you will actually play it

22 hours. Comparatively, it's not a lot, but I generally lose my interest in most games pretty quickly. 22 hours is a huge amount for me :P

660+ hours here, I think. You learn through the explosions, too.

How Long to Beat
Main Story:117 Hours
Main Story and Extras:224 Hours
Completionist:413 Hours

I'd say it's worth a 10-spot.

660+ hours and I think I never legitimately landed on Eeloo. Always something new to do.

I have loved this game and will continue to play it. It's a good staple for me, especially when I'm supposed to be working as I can pause and save at any time. (I've currently got about 1050 hours logged in it)

As for the expansions, I have the old one, making history, and it's just okay. I'm contemplating this new expansion as I'd like to see the planets a bit more populated.

Where this game shines though is the mods that exist for it.

You don't NEED anything and can play without, but there's a few mods I can't imagine enjoying this game casually without them being installed.

I want this game but it looks like one of those games that's got a big learning curve and I'm feeling too lazy now.

It did have a significant learning curve, but I don't believe it even had tutorials when I began.

There is already a lot to do in the game without the DLCs. I'm not really interested in the "making history" DLC as I'm most interested in the sandbox aspect of the game but I might pick the "breaking ground" DLC for the robotic aspect.

"historical low" is a bit dubious because it was both bundled and used to cost less than the current USD/EUR sale price long before release.

My $7 2011 pre-purchase included the DLCs too. I didn't try them though.
