Hey guys, so i was wondering what is the best way to organize all your music mp3's on a computer??

I have music from amazon, google play, ripped from cd's, etc.. over 10,000 mp3's and they are all over the place.
Any suggestions on how to organize this? on the cloud? or on my HDD?

(i do NOT use itunes.. prefer mp3's)

I've thought about uploading them ALL to Google Play, and streaming from there, but doesn't make sense to be taking up bandwidth
from my monthly allotment just to listen to music i already own.

Also, any type of tool that can change the style of music Mp3's in batches? Like if i highlight all the Reggae artists,.. say 30 or 40 of them, then be able to label them all as Reggae, quickly???

appreciate any replies.
thanks everyone

I just stuff them into folders by hand myself and chuck them all on my external hard drive.

Genre / Artist / Album. If your mp3 files are named correctly, you could do it manually without problems. Also, if I recall correctly, there was a program used to speed up the process, musicsen or something like that.

I use mp3tag to change metadata in bulk on mp3 files with restricted access, it also has the options to change genre/artists etc too. Really good tool.

Music folder > Artist > Album > Songs.

If you assign songs a "genre" tag, most half-decent players will allow you to select songs or shuffle on any such criteria. I still use a crusty old version of Winamp, but I understand the cool kids consider it somewhat "last century"....

Winamp certainly allows you to change tags such as "genre" en masse, by selecting multiple library tracks from your library and editing the "genre" field for all of the selected tracks at once.

I keep all of my music on this really awesome site called YouTube. o_O

But seriously, I gave up trying to keep music on my PC years ago when my previous desktop HDD died and I lost 12,000+ MP3s. I also don't use a cellphone/portable MP3 player, so there's no reason for me to have any music stored on my HDDs.

I use Media Monkey.
It's like iTunes but better!
Dump your audio files and tweak media monkey for audio only!
Select that audio folder and enjoy your music, audio books, podcasts etc.
Just download a free version or use trial pay for gold version!

If you like the program and it works well, why not support the devs who made it by purchasing it? o_O

Why use a keygen? :(

Mp3tag!

There's portable versions of it available, and I use it all the time.

Basically throw in your entire music folder (for me, that's like 2000+ songs), wait for it to load.

Sort by filename, title, artist name, genre, # of cd covers, etc, and edit them.

easy way (for me)
install music brainz picard, drag and drop your music file, instant tagging (as long it's recognized). it's able to rename and move it while saving the tags too for easy manage!
lastly use media monkey to manage/play it (free is enough for playing/managing i think)
it has autoplaylist to easily change playlist entry without too much work, but this one is not for free

if you want to use cloud, why not use dropbox/box, why google/youtube?
simply install it and put your music there and then sync to cloud

and that's it...

I highly recommend MusicBee. It's free, and probably the best program I've seen so far, and I've seen a lot.

MusicBee is very nice, use it since a lot time, too.
For tagging i recommend tagscanner, it can not only handle tags, you can also rename the files and a lot more...
I got 6.000 mp3s at the moment and have them all in a alphabetical folder structure.

I use Windows Media Player. It organizes all my music and adds its album cover just with one or two clicks.
