region lock in the rules

A few months back I won a GA for a game, it turns out that it was region locked. Having not been using steamgifts for long, I wasn't actually aware of the no region locked games, so now I have one that I can't activate. Will I be getting into trouble for not activating a game that I won? Or what would be the proper course of action to make things right?

Just make sure it is marked as Not Received.

You should still be able to mark the game as not received. Then try contacting the person who gave it to you and explain the situation and try to see if you can exchange it for a copy you can activate.

Return the gift to the giveaway creator, mark it as Not Received.
