Hey Whats Up So For Christmas i was thinkig of getting better parts for my Pre-Built PC.(HP)
The Current Specs Are:
AMD Sempron 140 2.70 Ghz (Single Core)
RAM:2 Gib
GPU:Nvidia Geforce 6150se N-force 430(I Know)

So For the GPU i was thinking between the Geforce 210 Or The 8400 GS(I Need Low Profile 1GB VRAM Cards)
And The Proccesor a AMD Athlon II X2 250 (3.0GHz)
Whatdaya Think?I Cant add Powerfull parts For Two Reasons:NARRA5 Motherboard(Only Supports AMD CPU'S)And the PSU Is Like 220w.

Whats your budget? Both won't help much at all.

I don't think that getting these parts will really make a whole lot of difference. The low number cards really aren't that much better than the integrated you are already using.

You'd probably be better off saving up $600 or so and getting a new mobo, PSU, Proc, Ram, and video card.

That's right, that pc can't really be improved much only by changing some parts.

Anyway Pre-built PCs usually suck.

With a lower wattage power supply like yours (220W), if you're serious about upgrading the video card and can't wait to build a new PC, go with the GT 430.

Better off getting an AMD APU since it'll have better graphics than any $50 or less graphics cards.
Edit: Oh wait they'll need a new motherboard =(

Wouldn't he need a APU+Mobo+RAM for that though?

Nvidia has better cards.

No <$50 card is good, regardless of brand.

So your saying Nvidia has better $50 or less graphic cards that are more powerful than the AMD APU?

I'm just stating Nvidia has better cards, but not regarding price in my statement.

Try using both sides for 1 year each and see which one you like better.

I'm talking about "price doesn't matter" comment because that's how graphics card are compared by the price.
You don't see people comparing a $200 graphics card to a $400 one in a review because they're not in the same price range

Both are fine for me. Speaking as someone who had 6950s, 580s, 670s, and 7970s.

The proposed system won't be much better than your existing system, that's what he's trying to tell you.

If you're going to spend money on your PC, save up to about $600 and then replace it completely. You'll be saving even more money and won't have to replace the parts anytime soon.

It's good to be patient when it comes to PC builds, buy a computer that will last a few years rather than parts that will only last you 1 year and give you not so great performance.

I'm Sure These Parts Will Make The PC Better.

You do know that to put the new CPU, you need to have a compatible motherboard right?

cheaper in the very short run, but very ineffective. No matter what you upgrade to you wont see much improvement without a total overhaul. If the PC is not used for gaming, and you are fine with how it behaves, then leave it as is. If you use it for gaming, and you want an improvement, any money spent on replacement parts will only be money thrown out the window.

Id recommend you save up and build a completely new PC. Maybe you could keep the case, but I doubt it if you are going for a gaming rig.

I did what you did. I milked my computer for all I could get out of it for as long as I could. I ended up spending WAAAAY too much money on it and am finally rebuilding it from scratch. Everyone else in this thread is right. You should build a brand new machine.
Seriously. If you save up for a few more months you can probably afford a brand new MoBo, Case, PSU, RAM, HDD, Optical Drive, and half decent GPU. It isn't very hard to build a respectable rig for $500. For Example...

If you do that, you'll be spending at least 630 just to "repair" the computer. It's not worth the trouble.
