Game time runs down as soon as you redeem it. As for gold farming as a lowbie: Get a gathering profession, such as Herbalism or mining. And sell the resources you get on the Auction house. Should make some coinage. It will be a lot of work tho.

It goes on, even if you do not play.
It is hard. I managed to get good sums of gold level 80+ doing old raids and selling like crazy.

depends on how much time you invest! It's way faster for experienced players so i honestly cant say how long it will take for a new player!

If you reach high levels (85-90) then you can solo most of the older contents (bc,wotlk, cataclysm) raids only by that you can make 1-2k gold (or more, i don't remember exact number, i didn't play since december), also do daily quest and have a gathering profession helps too. Or if you have WoD too, then by having a garrison with inn (gives daily quests) and gathering buildings (mine, etc.) then you can make quite some gold. (i can't confirm this, as i don't have WoD yet, im still waiting for how much will tokens cost, because i can't afford to pay monthly fee). Or if you have a lot of free time, you can just play around AH (buy low, sell high) :)

For a total newbie it will take some time. For old wow player it shouldn't take longer than 5-6 days ingame-time-played to reach 80+.

As for gold farming. Actually untill really endgame you don't need that gold.

Turn away from this path, for it will lead you to misery and self depreciation.

Time runs away when you don't play. And I suspect those tokens will cost hundreds of thousands of gold. That's an amount not many people ever get to see in their bags. EVER. Only if you're capable of devoting as much time to WoW, as you do to your job/family life. You just need to play for many hours daily. Many hours of dull farming. Answer for yourself it it's worth it.

Price of the tokens will be set by the game and will fluctuate depending on the amount currently on sale. The seller will have no control over the price from what I have read.

It is probably best to wait till max and then use your garrison (think of fetch quests in DA:I) that gives you free stuff to sell. Remember, once you buy a starter account, you get your first month free so that buys you a bit of time. There are plenty of guides on leveling, maxing your professions, etc. that can help you reach a decent level of revenue that you can use once tokens go into the game.

buy all expansions, make alts, get max professions and farm stuff for sale, sell stuff you loot in dungeons, when you hit max level you can do quests you didnt finish before and you get more gold for them.... there are many ways to earn money. regular price is from 50-70k gold for 60 days game time, tokens shoud have similar price. if you only play 3-4 hours a day you will spend all that time farming gold. as level 20-30 you will get silvers from quests and from selling loot. not much money to be made like that.
oh and you shoud buy wow + all expansions for real money. cause expansions for gold cost a lot. and you need to buy from strange sources that coud get you scammed

Current Battlechests include Wrath of the Lich King. And then you can upgrade for free trough Cataclysm up to Mists of Pandaria.

About the tokens and what @skullscar said, where you can buy time-cards for 50-70k of gold? I am curious since I stopped playing WoW long time ago and now I am thinking about getting back there to check out new content (I stopped when MoP got released).
