Hey guys,

as time goes by we grow older. And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm losing interest in video games. I'm 30 years old right now and whilst I always enjoy a good time in the Darkest Dungeon or CS:GO, I can't pull all-nighters anymore or keep playing games for hours and hours straight like I used to when I was.. well.. like.. 18?

Most of the time, I'm too tired from work and can't be bothered to play games after getting off work. Which could be understandable, but even at the weekends, I prefer to do other stuff.

How does this apply to you? Do you feel the same? My golden age was back in the 90s, playing NES and SNES all day long. I kinda miss those times.

All the best,

I'm the opposite. As I've gotten older, I've found myself playing more games than when I was young. The only difference is I'm playing more single-player games since most of my friends stopped gaming and I haven't. We used to pull all night game sessions through a weekend when we had weekly LAN parties, but that was before broadband internet was common. I do still occasionally find myself marathon gaming, playing upwards of 12 hours straight or longer (with snack breaks and nature calls). This is usually when starting a new game that I get completely lost in or returning to a game I love after a long break.

I'm 25, who knows, maybe I'll get to that point when I'm 30 as well. Right now it doesn't seem like that.
It feels like a Machinae Supremacy song: I wanna play until I die.

I'm quite older than you, and yes. I feel pretty close. I don;t play as much as I used to 20 years ago. There are times I don't play for days or weeks but I keep coming back and play some games from time to time. Its still the best form of electronic entertainment as TV is sh-t. I have over 3k games on steam and a couple of dozens on consoles. I find it these days a bit easier to sit on couch and turn on some game on PS4. Play for an hour or two and go back to daily routines. Thats life, but I am not going to give up on games ever!

I'm hardly playing anything these days, but I was never a really hardcore gamer. Sure I pulled a few all nighters, and I certainly played almost every day for a large part of my life, but I also did a lot of other stuff. Even when I was a kid, I put quite a bit of time into programming (and some art on the Amiga), and never really had a pure gaming machine (a console) until I got gifted a Wii.

I do miss playing games, but I also miss doing a lot of other stuff I'm no longer doing, and might get back to when I retire (who knows), and I'm sure that even if I do go back, it will be at lower intensity.

I play with a group of friends, for me it's been less about the game but more about the times with my friends, I still play some games by myself, but I find most of the enjoyment by being with my friends, even though we're spread out through America.

23 here. I think I can relate to this at least partially. I have far less time for gaming than I was used to, so I mostly spend time working, houseworking and sharing my freetime with my wife. But my wife is a gamer too, so we often play together some games. :P

28 here I can fully agree to your theory.
FT job, gf but no kids - I'm slightly losing interest in gaming. I used to love sports games like crazy, I'm almost completly off of that. Guess the principle gets boring somehow. I also avoid most singleplayer games because I know before I even start a save, that I'm going to comeback months later only not to know what was happening when I first started playing the game.
It's a little different with multiplayer games - but as ActiveMars828 says, it's more about the good time with your friends / mates apart from the game I guess.
