Do you feel the same?
I mean, as much as I sometimes feel too exhausted to game and can't play as much as I like, it doesn't mean that I still don't love gaming. I love to play when I have time, and it's honestly a great way for me and some of my friends to stay connected since they're so far away.

I'm 40 and I still play a lot (compared to ahem, 'normal' people) but aside family (wife, 4 kids) matters, I think I just got bored at most of the games. I tend to play more indie stuff or some kind of different approach instead of the regular FPS variation.
Ok, I spent almost 30 hours on The End Is Nigh recently but that's more a example of how good games are hard to find nowadays. I couldn't care less for the more recent iteration of franchises like Dishonored, FarCry, Assassin's Creed and stuff like that, but a good indie game sure would do.
(Also, I'm developing my own projects right now so free time gets shorter and shorter)

Career, home ownership, and (especially) parenthood. I still want to play games, I just don't have the time. I should really stop buying more when I have so many unplayed, but these bundles can have some really great deals!

I kind of lost chunk of my passion for video games as well ,thought not entirely. I'm mostly too tired after work for gaming but then i have spare time and i'm in good mood and well rested i can still get immersed in a game from time to time . Though fewer games manage to pull me entirely in lately. For me it's first half of the Saturday is then i'm doing most of my enjoyable gaming these days. I'm well rested,in a good mood and have no stuff to do ( i try to leave all the things for the second half of theday ) .
So my suggestion in short would be to reserve gaming for then you are well rested and in good mood . :)

For me it's by periods. Sometimes I don't play for weeks, sometimes I play a lot.
I never did all-nighters but I assume if I did I would indeed stop when getting older, because physically sleep deprivation just gets harder ^^

No one is meant to focus on a single hobby, all the time.
Also, drugs help.

Same here man. I was still playing a few years ago, but just wait until you have a kid.
No time for games whatsoever. I'm comforting myself with the idea that in about 4-5 years I'll be playing with him.

Hey I feel sometimes stuff like that. I used to play video games A LOT as a teenager, so now I kinda don't play as often, but still quite often (at least on weekends). What helped a little bit was trying new videogame genres, things that I usually didn't play. I wasn't into turn-based games before but now I really like them, that could help you if you haven't tried.
It also helps getting more than one hobby to keep you busy, which I have done as well. You don't need to get overexposure to the gaming world, just disconnect from it once in a while. I hope this helps!

I used to play all the time (NES when I was younger, PC from age 16 and onward), would stay all night and go to school tomorrow, no prob. Now at 34, I really really like maybe 10-15 games a year, and even then I manage to send myself to bed before 4 am most of the time... on the weekends. During work week I have to get sleep. Sometimes I just leave behind games I like because there's no time to dedicate to them anymore.
Not stopping completely anytime soon, but you know... maybe I'll play more when I retire in 30+ years.

There are times when I am kind of over with the whole gaming thing and do many other things and feel a bit depressed when looking how many games there still are with 0h in them. But those times usually pass and I feel (again) quite energetic and ready to play those games once again! I used to play quite much, almost fill my days with it but nowadays I can't really do that, even on holidays I yearn to do something else too. So in short: there are phases of 0h playing and then there are times when I play quite a lot but the whole gaming time has really gone from my top1 hobby to top10 :) I turned 34 last January.

Is not you or your circumstances
.... am also in the beginning of the 30s and I would still play as much as I did 10 or 20 years ago.
The problem in my opinion ...is simply because the games today are all shit(too casual). Even the best games today
...where almost everyone says it is so good and makes so many right is in comparison to games which we already had
just nothing really special ...another reason: you are just overplayed from your favorite games/genre happens to me every few months

I drop and jump back into gaming pretty often. I'm only 20 though, so I'll get back to you in 10 years and let you know if I still appreciate gaming. :P

I don't have as much time to spend on gaming as I used to. That isn't necessarily a problem, it's good that I have other things going on. If anything it means I appreciate it more when I do get the opportunity. I've had a quite few weeks and I've really enjoyed catching up on my backlog. If a gaming ever starts to feel like a chore then just take a break and you'll come back with a different attitude.

I havent read any of the other commenst. But I am 28. No kids, no wife or girlfriend. I am always at the computer if Im not working. But! I feel you, the only reason though that I dont feel like gaming anymore is that I am to tired. To tired after work, but at the weekends Im more tired then after work on workdays...
I dont really want to be like this, miss gaming.... But yes, I feel you! :)

28 here, no kids, no spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend. Ive never really lost interest in gaming, but I do cut back quite a bit in the summers. Soon as it gets warm, Id rather be outside fishing, hiking, reading, or writing, than inside on the PC (at least during the day). Fall and winter theres less going on where I live, and its too cold for me to be outside, so I spend more time gaming

Flirting YES :o)
i know her a bit longer and forget to Whitelist her .... and now i have changed this.
She is a very interesting woman BUT she comes from far far away .... so not really a possibility for more then flirting.
So not whitelisting for "better chances" or anything like that. "Only" because she is very OK (friendly, helpfull and so on) and earned it :o)

Interest in gaming comes and goes. It's quite normal to have interests outside of it, and sometimes prioritize those things more.
Also, given the highlight of classic gaming from the past for you, the majority of games today are mostly quite a different experience. So, it's not likely to feel the same as then.
Just take time off of it for a while, and do other things you enjoy. Fairly sure, that just like me, you'll enjoy it again when you happen to come back around to it.

Was going to post along the same lines, now I can get away with just saying "I fully agree with what this person said"

Hey guys,
as time goes by we grow older. And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm losing interest in video games. I'm 30 years old right now and whilst I always enjoy a good time in the Darkest Dungeon or CS:GO, I can't pull all-nighters anymore or keep playing games for hours and hours straight like I used to when I was.. well.. like.. 18?
Most of the time, I'm too tired from work and can't be bothered to play games after getting off work. Which could be understandable, but even at the weekends, I prefer to do other stuff.
How does this apply to you? Do you feel the same? My golden age was back in the 90s, playing NES and SNES all day long. I kinda miss those times.
All the best,
t0b3
