A Real (really real!) True Doom Fact: There is a mod for Doom 2 (using GZDoom) called Total Chaos that looks like it would be amazing (and totally NOT look like Doom 2 at all!). I think I'll have to take a boo at it one of these days!

DOOM stole its engine and gameplay directly from a lesser-known game called Chex Quest -- an advertising tie-in for a popular children's cereal. This led to a protracted legal battle between SquareSoft, the producers of Chex cereal, and Kellogg's, the developer of DOOM.
