Pretty much done. I want to max out Man of Medan, but at this point I'm exhausted. Watching the same cutscenes several times, which you can't skip, is simply tedious. On top of that, the game is mostly a cluster of cinematics with a small dose of exploration and choices. Scene Selection doesn't help much either, as the achievements are tailored to go through the game multiple times from start to finish, with no shortcuts.

So... after my health took yet another turn for the worse, I decided to take a few months off of this. To make matters worse, a friend gave me Elden Ring for my birthday. And just when I was finished with that, an update for Into the Breach got released!
By the time I was done with that I had like... 10 days left? So between my health and the time left, I decided to play very short games (hope that's OK). I didn't thought I would make it, but I just did! I played:

¹ Technically you can keep playing this game endlessly if you wish to drive back and forth, but the new destinations only go as far as Turkey and that's also when (spoiler hidden in case someone cares about it:) your uncle leaves you and will not return unless you restart the game entirely. 'Goodbye' is the achievement for when you pick up the uncle's last letter.
² While this game does have achievements, none of them are normal progression based nor mark the ending of the game. And also looks like most of them are not easy to obtain, so for this reason I'm going with screenshot instead.

Battle Chef Brigade is Done + Screenshots
Really nice art and fascinating world that I would've loved to sink deeper into. The gameplay had its ups and downs for me, and couple times I wished there had been lower difficulty but overall it was good. I had never experienced gameplay like that before so it was very unique to me, but I'm unsure if I would seek out similar gameplay games in the future.
Beyond Eyes is Done + Screenshots
Beautiful graphics/art style and interesting unique idea, but it wasn't fully explored. I just really hated the incredibly slow movement speed - I understand the reasoning behind it but it made the experience tedious and I can't even fathom the idea of trying to achievement hunt in this game when it's that snail paced. Also I didn't like the story.
Catherine Classic is Done
I never played it on PS3 even though I was always interested and oh boy am I glad I never did... The story was unique and interesting, I did rather enjoy that aspect even though I didn't like any of the three main characters. I enjoyed the visuals and all that, but the difficulty was far too grueling for me. I bet it's great for puzzle enjoyers but I am not one of them so I was left raging far too often on them.
Emily is Away Too is Done + Screenshots
I like the idea and the "nostalgia" factor, but the story is way too surface level for me to care. It would've needed more time to really flesh out the two girls and get to know them to create the illusion of actually caring about them (or one of them). Both girls are actually kind of annoying toward the end, and "my girl" completely flipped out on me. Maybe I just feel that way because I got a bad ending but it didn't leave me feeling bittersweet, but rather just rolling my eyes thinking good riddance to them!

Premise seemed interesting but I got really tired of it and really fast too. Both of the guys you interact with were extremely annoying so I really didn't care about them. And everyone texting single words or one sentence and only then more was really terrible. By the time it was revealed that it was a supernatural story, I just wanted it to be over quickly and did not care what would happen. I ended up getting the only ending out of four that doesn't give you an achievement, so that was little annoying too.

Since I didn't like the first one I was groaning to go into this and frankly only did it because of this challenge, otherwise I would have just ignored it. This was worse too, hated the influencers with passion and wish I could've gotten them all killed. The detective guy was kinda funny but it was really unnecessary add to the gameplay.

My quick thoughts on these games.
The Henry Stickmin Collection - fun 'choices matter' game with numerous ways to finish the game - sadly caught most of the pop culture references. Planning to unlock more endings later.
Calico - a very chill cafe/life sim game, a lot of walking around doing things for townsfolk much like others in it's genre. Too short for my liking but can't complain that much.
Paradise Lost - not usually a fan of walking simulators but this one wasn't too bad and the story itself was pretty interesting. Performance on low-medium was pretty bad, way too dark. High was okay but I got a lot of FPS drops for some reason.
Evan's Remains - decent puzzle game but didn't really get hooked by the story. Visuals were nice though.
Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos - my favourite out of the bunch. Pretty much a homage to the 2D top-down Zelda games with a light sprinkling of roguelite, fishing, farming and town building mechanics. Had a few bugs where you get stuck forcing a quit to menu but otherwise a very enjoyable game. Just wish there was a post-game with more things to do.
I Am Fish - much like Paradise Lost, definitely not a fan of difficult physics games but was compelled to try it anyway. This one wasn't too bad with the "normal" controls but once the story was beaten, I was happy to move on though but for people who enjoy these games, lots of replay value there to collect everything and 5-star the timed runs. Performance wasn't too well optimised, seemed to get 40 FPS despite enabling v-sync and 60 FPS cap but just coped with it in the end.

Hi, Cjcomplex. I have a related question...
I recently completed the main story campaign (called the Adventure Campaign) in the driving game "Distance." Here's my achievements: https://steamcommunity.com/id/insideAfireball/stats/appid/233610/achievements
Turns out there is another campaign called "Lost to Echoes." It's my understanding that it's technically an expansion. The campaign I finished has a self contained story with end credits, and it took me about 3 hours to finish. Is that good enough?

Started Möbius Front '83, was excited about this, but feels much slower and frustrating than I was thinking it'd be...
Fidel seemed really short, and the HLTB is like 4 hours, but Idk what took them that long since I saw the credits after less than 2 and I wasn't even doing well... Maybe that was before some of the changes they made? (I am quite suck at the challenges for the other stuff...)
Pumpkin Jack was interesting... Almost fun.
Möbius Front '83 I was excited about, but I couldn't finish it, it felt way too slow for me, and I was just skipping all the dialogue because I don't really care for constant swearing, which leads to...
Katana Zero, a decent game, but I seriously don't get the writing... I mean the bad guys swearing every other word could just be to show how uncreative and simple-minded they are, but even the doctor is ridiculous. And even as the main character, you are forced to choose swearing dialogue to progress... I don't like it. I got the "quick" ending, I guess, and started down the other ending, thinking it'd be quick, but after a few long, more frustrating levels, I stopped... Might try and finish that eventually, but I'm doubtful.
Timelie was nice and pretty cool, but I don't really understand what happened... At all...

Agree on Pumpkin Jack. Solid platformer but felt unpolished more often than not. Once jumped on a rock face just to see if I could and immediately died akin to falling into the water. Wasn't even close to water but probably triggered the out-of-bounds flag that kills you. Honestly the most memorable things about the game are its sound and visual designs. The set and character designs were great and even the copyright-free music didn't feel out of place. Top notch design there, but gameplay-wise Pumpkin Jack felt pretty linear and basic to me (weapon usefulness stuck out for me in particular). Probably would have been better served being bundled in September/October imo.

TBH, the ending you get with the "The End" achievement is more of an actual ending (you even get the credits roll and an actual end to the story) that the other unfinished one (devs still haven't released the end of the game, you don't even get the credits screen with this one just a "to be continued" text and an unfinished story).

Played the game myself and I would disagree that the "The End" should be considered an alternate ending. Just because it shows credits, it does not mean that it is an ending for the full story.

I finished the other ending. Just dying was much more satisfying and felt more complete tbh...
I guess it's important to know why you should be dead instead of just dying. And also feel like more of a monster with other random stuff thrown in to try to make more nonsense the player feels like they need to learn about in the future... :/
I'm not really interested though, just more disappointed with that "end".
And yeah, neither are an ending for the "full story" since there doesn't seem to be one. I mean, I almost got bits of the story, but the living end doesn't even try to end the story they didn't really flesh out at all...

Okay, so the other ending is needed. Well, probably won't happen then, don't know how much further away that ending is. I was curious because it took me the HLTB time to get that first one and see the credits, but I guess the "real" ending is probably the 6 hour time or something (or would just be that for me, lol).

The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.
The prize: FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE
Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.
Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.

Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for over six years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.
I've played the first X minutes of a game, can I pick it for the event?
No. You cannot have any play time or achievements prior to the start of the event. The only exception is idle time from farming Steam cards.
Can I play a MP only game?
No. It needs to have an "end" in order for me to count it as beaten, so it needs to have a campaign/story mode.
If a game was sold as a non-Steam copy in a bundle (origin/uplay/drm-free/etc), can I pick it as a choice if I own a Steam copy?
No. The reason being that those who own a Steam copy would have an extra option that would not be available to everyone who bought the same bundle. If the game was originally sold as a non-Steam copy, but Humble later provided steam keys to everyone who bought the bundle, then the game would be allowed.
Why six games?
The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.
How long are you going to do this?
Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.
This event "ends" on August 2nd when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time.
