Hello, girls and guys! I would really appreciate it if you would help me choose which game I should buy from my wishlist to add in my steam library. I don't care about its release date, no matter how far it is. I also don't care about its price. Also, if a game is still in the pre-order phase, do you think it will get a discount in the Halloween sale or there's no chance to see that happening? Please answer me and choose a game and tell me why should I buy it. Thanks in advance!

My wishlist is (choose 1 game):
Far Cry Primal BOUGHT!
Watch_Dogs2 BOUGHT!
Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter BOUGHT!
King's Quest - Season Pass BOUGHT!
Sid Meier's Civilization VI BOUGHT!
South Park The Fractured But Whole BOUGHT!
Virginia BOUGHT!
Dishonored 2 BOUGHT!
Night in the Woods BOUGHT!
Silence BOUGHT!
HITMAN BOUGHT!
Syberia 3
Ghost of a Tale
Blackwood Crossing
Kelvin and the Infamous Machine

I guess I'll have to "buy" your help, so here is a giveaway too.

SORRY THAT I HAVEN'T ANSWERED TO EVERYONE, BUT I HAVE READ EVERY COMMENT OF YOURS!

Because it's Civ and you can waste spend endless hours :)

Edit: I love Civ games and the changes seem interesting. If you know any Civ game, you can dive into it, if not you'll discover so much more.
I think 4x games in general are great, even though you can use a very similar playstyle, no two games are the same (other seed for the map, different RNG in fights (or to be Civ6 specific, RNG influenced great people)). You want to be a warmonger - be one; you want your small kingdom to be the worlds scientific leader, go for it.
I think Civ has plenty of different possibilities how to tackle the game, that will lead to vastly different experiences.

I'd recommend CIV6 and Batman Telltale if only for their "predictability" in game play meaning it won't deviate much from what we're used to (if you've played any of the titles before). And since they won't deviate much I think there isn't much to be disappointed about haha.

I generally don't recommend pre-ordering titles and highly unlikely that these will have a halloween sale (though you never know)
I was also told that Virginia fell short in terms of story and it becomes a drag if you want to 100% it.

I'm also using this way to reach out. We fought in the past but much time has passed and I thought I should let bygones be bygones. There's no point in holding onto disagreements for this long. Have a good day!

Yes, I've played CIV games and Telltale games before. Hmmm, I would prefer to save some money, but nevermind, I guess you're right and they won't get a discount. So, Virginia isn't that good? I hoped it would be as good as Firewatch. ;_;
Yeah, I'm not actually having any disagreement with you. I understand that we have some different opinions, but still, we won't change them, so are you sure you don't intend to blacklist me again, at least not for the same reason? :P

I only remember you calling me a hypocrite, because I was entering sgtools giveaways, but, to be honest, that's the only thing I remember. I don't have that good memory. xD So, yeah, I unblacklisted you or, as I usually say, you got your "second chance" (although people seem to have a problem with the term I'm using xD ).

The term does imply the tone you stand on a higher pedestal or authority than the other person so yes people might take it the wrong way (since you aren't a mod/support/admin in the community) :P

Good luck with picking (And yes, I've been told Virginia wasn't that good. It's only one person's opinion though. Others might like it more than my friend did.)

Nooo, I don't mean it like that. ;_; I'm not acting like I'm superior over others or something. I'm calling it a second chance, because that's how I see it. That's because, if that user blacklists me for a second time, I'll then tell him "Everyone deserves a second chance, but not a third one". 3:D Yeah, I know, I love drama. :'( But don't see it like I'm acting as authority. xD
Hmmm, I hope I will win it in a giveaway then, instead of buying it. Thanks.

A large amount of these are sequels, so comes down to if you've played them before. Personally I really liked shadow warrior, the sequel looks even better especially the chainsaw, and Deus ex, again the sequel looks great. I could see dishonoured 2 being great even though I felt the first one wasn't the best. Watchdogs looks a big improvement too, better driving a big part of it. South park will likely be great, as I've heard the first one is. The others I wouldn't have an opinion on.

This is my personal view of all this games:
Far Cry Primal: No way I will be paying full price for next copy paste game, it just don't have that value for me, maybe for 5€, no higher.
Watch_Dogs 2 :Just look at gameplay videos, it looks terrible, same bad car handling, every animation look shitty. I will not support developers in this, just after Watch_Dogs scam.
Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter Sorry, I don't know nothing about this game, but from gameplay videos it looks interesting, good audio and graphics. And Steam ratings are good.
King's Quest - Season Pass No idea about this pass, do you have a full game?
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided I played Human Revolution half year ago, it was nothing special for me, just ordinary game with lots a bugs with terrible design and controls, I don't feel any pleasure performing stealth knockouts, even if this is my favourite activity in games. So if you like HR, I suppose this is same experience. And yeah, this singleplayer game has buyable praxis kits for real money, Thumbs down for this nonsense.
Shadow Warrior 2 This was really amazing game for me, good, not boring gameplay with lots of special powers. Second one looks from gameplay videos even better for every aspect of game. And I forgot, it has TWO KATANAS!!! :D One of best game not just from your list :)
HITMAN Except for totally terrible system of episodes that I absolutely hate, this game is generally considered as successor of really great Absolution game. But personally I will buy this game right after all episodes will be out, I will not paying for incomplete game.
Syberia 3, Virginia, Sid Meier's Civilization VI Don't know this games.
Batman - The Telltale Series I will never buy single game from Telltale, last good was WD 2. And don't forget shitty performance. No thanks.
South Park The Fractured But Whole First one was really high rated, I suppose it was good, but never played it yet. But PLEASE just wait for release, stop support PREORDERING! No game is an exception. Please! thank you
Dishonored 2 Yeah, First Dishonored rocks, great game in every aspect. But for some people it doesn't fit. We are all different. But if you like first game, this is must have game, just check youtube for it. It's dope.

I will recommend Shadow Warrior 2, HITMAN after they release it with all content, South Park if you like that show and first game, and of course Dishonored 2. No need to comment more.
But It's your decision and your money :)

Best answer so far. Really nice work you put in this comment, mate.
About King's Quest, I have the first episode only and I liked it.
I've heard that HITMAN needs you to be constantly online. xD No way that I'll buy it, if it's true.
Why shitty performance? Telltale games are adored by everyone. :P
Yes, the first South Park game was damn good, especially the fighting system. Why not pre-order it? I will eventually buy it at some point anyway. Still, should I get it now or when it is cheaper? :P I really dislike the South Park tv series though.
Will any preorder game get a discount during the Halloween sale? Because you make me think of buying South Park 2 and Dishonored 2.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I have never heard of King's Quest, so it's up to you.
HITMAN, if is it restriction for you, don't buy it. I personally really dislike this kind of DRMs when you need be constantly online, sometimes without any reason. But what can I do, I love Hitman games and I will buy it. I have 24/7 network connection so I don't care :)
Well, that Batman game is really bad optimized title, fps sometimes drops below 10 even on high-end PCs of 2016. And the worst part of it? It's have low quality graphic, it's looks like smartphone game (so like all of TT games). Not like a Crysis - this would you expect from that hardware requirements. And game has also lots of bugs, crashes, glitches...
About this "Telltale games are adored by everyone", yeah, maybe here on SG where every second person is otaku type (no offense :) ). But Telltale is generally making more and more games with descending quality. Your decisions in game doesn't really matter, games have predefined course that you cannot change. This is main reason why people are bashing TTG. And They are right. You will have always have same consequences of your hard decisions. And same ending. Every. Telltale. Game. Imagine these games with working decisions like in Mass Effect, Fallout, Witcher. That would be great! :)
About preordering, this is reason why games are released unfinished and untested, with poor performance, higher price tag, etc... Gaming industry could be much better place without people preordering games. You can't be 100% sure what you will get at release day. it's really pig in a poke. I suppose some games are safe because of theirs trustworthy developers (CD Projekt is great example), but I will never trust again to any other developers/publishers. Never.
And we are talking about Ubisoft South Park. That Ubisoft that brought crappy Watch_Dogs and tons of other unfinished/bad games.
Next reason is simple, I don't think most of games in gaming industry are worth of high price tag, usually at 60€. I will just wait to sale when you can buy same game at half a price and lower.

Since you posted those games, I take it you have an interest in all those games.

My first choice would be Civ 6. I'm a big fan of this genre and the Civ series does it best. In addition there is usually tons of hours of gameplay. The last Civ game on Steam also had a ton of achievements if you are in to that sort of thing. Also, (in past iterations at least) you can play single or multiplayer.

Civilization VI is a good a choice as any, but Civ games tend to be incomplete and take expansions to really polish it into a gem, so it's a risk. I myself am delaying buying it due to the prepurchase offer being crap (90 days exclusive one civ I do not like), combined with 2k games discounting their games tons sooner rather than later, I'm waiting it out. On the plus side, if you get it, you get to nuke Gandhi ;)

Syberia 3... I'm still doubtful about that one. Syberia 2 greatly disappointed, ruining likeable characters making them into a loon, I don't know if I wanna risk trying 3, so I wouldn't recommend it to you either.

King's Quest Season Pass... doesn't this lack the Epilogue? You should probably get the Complete from off-site or something. I'll recommend the game itself, but not the Season Pass.

I say go for Batman... it's BATMAN!!! And Telltale usually don't disappoint... at least if you don't expect your choices to matter much and just ride along to the tale they're telling, pun intended.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Noooo, I love Gandhi and I will never nuke him. >:(
I liked both Syberia games. Why you're saying that?
Why wait for the complete game of King's Quest though?
Yeah, Batman is always awesome, but I'm used to fight in Batman games, not just talk. xD

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's either you or him. If you don't nuke him he'll nuke you.

Syberia-wise I didn't like how they ruined that eccentric but lovable scientist dude into a deranged obsessive loon wanting to attain his goals no matter what. Sure, he wasn't really fleshed out much in 1, but he comes across as eccentric at best, but still someone wondrous I can respect and like... then came 2 when you actually meet him and go along with him. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

King's Quest. I don't mean wait for the Complete... I say get the Complete. The Complete (that Steam sells, but you're unable to buy if you have Episode 1... unless you remove it) comes with the Epilogue. The Season Pass does not contain the Epilogue, as said in the dev's twitter and such. Easiest solution is to buy the Complete off-site, which I did.

KAPOW!

That's a difficult choice. I see a lot of (Hopefully) great games on the list. I can't say what you should buy, I can say what I would buy. I purchased Civ 6 a few days ago. I'm a big fan of the series, and I watched someone play it on Twitch and it was enough to convince me. Dishonored 2 would probably be my second choice. I didn't play the first one, but I LOVE that kind of game. Good luck with the decision, it's a big one :3

Yeah it's a really tough choice. And it always comes down to personal preference as well, although it doesn't really need to be said. I haven't played any on that list, so can't really recommend any. I pre ordered Civ 6 already. I can't really recommend it though (or say you shouldn't do it), since I've not played it myself. But so far it looks like it's gonna have a bit more depth then Civ 5 and some of the new mechanics look really interesting (districts for example). I also love how the new fog of war looks and quite like the graphic style as well.

I also highly recommend Hitman. It's just amazing. It may look like there is not a lot of content per episode, but in reality, there is a shit ton of content. Every level is worth at least 10-20 hours and it's not uncommon to spend more on them. I first thought I wouldn't really replay the levels much, but I ended up doing it anyway. The challenges etc add a lot of replayability and the sheer amount of way to kill people is just amazing. So far this one (along with Total War Warhammer and probably Civ 6 if it turns out good) is in my opinion the best game of the year.

HITMAN sounds good then, but why did it get a lot of hate? Also, many people were complaining that you need to be online when playing it.

Why does it get hate? People complain about the episodic release claiming that it is shit without even trying it themselfs. Most people that hate on it never actually played it. Also, it's the internet. People hate on it because others do.

And yes, it is true that you need to be online. You can play offline, but you can't access contracts, challenges (which is the thing that gives it the replayability) and escalations. You also can't continue saves you made offline while you are online and vice versa.

I'd start by eliminating games in which you already have games in the franchise that you haven't played much (unless there's a lot of offline time)-- e.g., HITMAN, Dishonored, Civ, Shadow Warrior.
Then I'd eliminate games in which there are games in the franchise you haven't played that you should probably play first (e.g., South Park, Sherlock Holmes).
Then I'd eliminate Virginia because it will be cheap and/or bundled soon, and you don't appear to have played many/any walking simulators.
Then I'd eliminate FarCry Primal and Watch_Dogs 2 because UPlay. :-P Okay, if you already have a UPlay account and don't have a problem with 3rd-party DRM, then you can ignore that one.

So we're left with DX:MD, Syberia 3, King's Quest, and Batman. unless you want to keep the UPlay games in contention
King's Quest is excluded from Steam's Family Sharing service, so if that's an issue for you, eliminate it.
DX:MD has optional micro-transactions. If that's an issue for you, eliminate it.
You don't appear to have played a Telltale-style game yet, so if the thought intrigues you, then maybe Batman (since you're a fan) is a good way to start. On the other hand, you might want to start with, say, The Walking Dead Season 1 since it's cheap and shows the basic formula.

Of these, the one that's most likely to get a Halloween sale is King's Quest. Plus it appears you've played Chapter 1. Assuming you enjoyed it (which you must have if it's in your list), I think that's the best choice. In the meantime, maybe pick up The Walking Dead Season 1 and see if you like the format/formula before getting Batman.

Never look at my playtime, because it has nothing to do with reality. xD I have already played these games, I can assure you.
I have also played South Park and Sherlock. Sherlock is even in my library.
Yeah, I think I'll probably wait for a better price for Virginia.
I have a uplay account and I have played many games with it.
I don't like family sharing anyway. :P I don't use it.
I have played a lot of Telltale games.
Yeah, I want to buy King's Quest, but it was in a bundle too recently, so maybe I'll find it even cheaper that way.

Well, I could only go based on what I could see in your profile and library. There was only one Sherlock game in your library so I thought that there were plenty of other (cheaper) Sherlock games you could play before dropping $50 on another. And there were no Telltale games there either (of the Telltale Batman genre, like TWD).
Anyway, looks like you've made your choice-- good luck!

Stay away from Deus Ex, it's a great game, but runs like crap even on high end systems.

Far Cry Primal is an awesome open world game, the lack of any kind of gun makes it a very different experience from other Far Cry games too. it also runs really well.

I recently pre-ordered Shadow Warrior 2, as with all FWH games, there is no doubt in my mind that it will be awesome.

Civilization VI is shaping up to be what looks like a great game, Civ V is one of my all time favourite game, but Beyond Earth was a massive let down for me, if you like this type of game, you should check out Total War: Warhammer. It's easily my favourite game of 2016.

Dishonored 2 will be awesome, but expect bugs as with all Bethesda games.

Preorder is a bad thing. not just for the players but for the industry thing. You are paying for a product and you don't know nothing about it. That shouldn't be an option, be even legal. Just think on no man's sky or mankind divided.

Also remember, the first SP game was made by obsidian. They didn't want to have DLCs or DRMs... and yet they failed, still the game didn't force you to have uplay and the DLCs were EXTREMELY SHITTY cosmetics, sto there was a win in that :P

Now is not obsidian, its uplya, its on steam because they knew sales would be much less in comparison, etc.
