FAQ

From the FAQ:

I’m eligible for a free copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.COM, but I don’t see any information about it in GOG GALAXY 2.0. What should I do?

An update to the app is needed, so please make sure you have the latest version (Windows – 2.0.16.187, macOS – 2.0.16.200). If the update is not triggered automatically after launching the application, please wait a couple of minutes and a pop up should appear. If it doesn’t, you can go to www.gogalaxy.com and clicking the ‘DOWNLOAD GOG GALAXY’ banner will trigger the update without downloading the installer.

I have closed the banner with the option to claim The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Can I still take part in the event?

Go to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game view within your owned games library in GOG GALAXY 2.0. There you will see a banner that will allow you to take part in the event.

Which The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases are eligible for this action?

PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Origin and Epic Games versions of:

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition

I own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch, will I receive a GOG.COM copy as well?

Since there is no Nintendo Switch integration, owners of the Switch edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition won't be eligible to benefit from this action.

Which version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will I receive?

That depends. If you own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt version of the game, you’ll receive the same version on GOG.COM (if you have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt version of the game with any or all DLCs, you’ll also receive The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt).
If you have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition (or more than one version of the Witcher 3, out of which at least one is the GOTY Edition), you’ll receive the GOTY Edition on GOG.COM as well.

I own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt base game + expansions, will I receive The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition?

No, you will receive The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Only owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition can claim it as part of this event.

I have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.COM, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition on a different platform, will I receive The GOTY Edition on GOG.COM?

Yes, the GOTY Edition will be added to your GOG.COM library.

What happens if I own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on multiple platforms (like Steam, PS4, XBOX)? Will I receive only one game?

Yes, even if you own the game on multiple platforms, you’ll receive one copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.COM.

What happens if I already have the same version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in my GOG.COM library and a different platform – can I still participate in this offer?

If you already have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in your GOG.COM library, you can still take advantage of this offer and receive a giftable code of the game (either The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition depending on the version you own) valid for a week.

How long does this event last?

The offer is valid until June 23rd, 11am UTC.

My Galaxy got update before I've tried to check game page (haven't started it on that PC for a while), so there's a chance that I had no chance to see this issue =)

Bought it on GOG not so long ago (and have it on Steam for some time)

Anyway, I'm happy to support GOG/CDPR, hope they will stay good guys.

I also did the same thing. Bought the boxed version a couple years ago to support CDPR, which also helps to increase local game selling count. They deserved this.

Unrelated question. I have seen your DP in multiple profiles, but I don't know where it is from. Can you please tell me where it is from? Is it from a game?

I heard about it and tried it (thought to gift it to my friend) and got Base Game as separate item. Their support in theory may help, but I don't want to bother them right now because they should have a lot of same tickets.

Anyway, thank you for letting now.

Well its "free game" given by the dev. If things work well, you will receive the GOTY edition Even if it is the standard edition, it is already a great "giveaway".

I have GOTY on steam and got ONLY vanilla version of game.
I guess it will not work for everyone or at least it will be available later (GOTY version)

Same here.
I assume they have bug with GOTY detection since in Steam it's Sub, but not App.
Steam client show game like vanilla + bunch of DLCs.

Permalink

I saw someone on GOG forum suggest it could happen if you bought the DLCs separately, but I'm pretty sure I bought entire GOTY and still got only the base game from this.

Yep, same. But i am not sure if we didn't receive Goty edition or maybe we did but it shows like the base game?

Since when you search on Steam it shows like W3: Wild Hunt as well, you don't see GOTY tag.

Own base game on GOG, GOTY on Steam. Lets see if this works getting me the DLCs/GOTY on GOG, then ...

... but as somebody with too many Steam games, a slow computer, and very slow internet, it looks like it will be a day or two before I find out ;)

(According to their FAQ, it should, at least.)

Own GotY on Steam but got the base game. Let's see if there is a fix for this.
Edit: The issue is now resolved. Got the GotY entry in GoG galaxy and claim button again. Clicking on that, Got the GotY added in my GoG library.

Gog crashing when tries to sync up my steam library.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Same. Have been trying for an hour now, getting nowhere. Every time I start it up again it first tries to sync my GOG library, and 3 out of 4 tries it already crashes halfway through that, plus the client is just generally unresponsive.

Compared to this, even the new Steam library works well on my potato >_>

(And I already own base Witcher 3 on GOG since its release anyway -- and seeing what others are reporting, I probably won't get the DLC anyway even though I own GOTY on Steam ...)

Edit: Yep, only got base game on GOG, despite owning GOTY (bought as GOTY, not separately) on Steam.

GoG Galaxy 2.0 worked fine when the client first launched for me... but a few months back it just started crashing like you describe for me too when syncing. Even if you restart the client over and over until it's done, it ends up saying "Could not load data, click to retry" every time, making the client useless.

I'm assuming it's due to the size of the Steam library, but who knows? Hopefully it gets resolved at some point. :/

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I can confirm, it refuses to sync my Steam library onto the GOG Galaxy 2.0.16 in the same manner as described by you.
Plus "Plugin has crashed. Retry." in the Gear Symbol -> Settings -> Integrations tab. Best we can hope for is a fix soon enough.
Everyone who experiences this, should report it from the imbedded support of the application. Gear Symbol -> Report Issue

Same with me. At least it saves what it already imported before each crash so you don't start over from scratch each time.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to play it at least once, just joining doersnt change your account

I know its not exactly the same, but for example, I'm on the full Game Pass so I can play the PC games, but I dont get any free Games For Gold from the console permanently applied to my account because I dont actually have a console (i.e. not everything gets automatically added to my account)

EDIT: looks liek Jacknot22 beat me to it :-p

All connections other than Microsoft is 3rd party on Galaxy (user made, not GOG) and Steam connection somehow uses a different login window instead of regular openid thing. That's why I didn't connect my Steam account.

I had actually created a topic on GOG about this: https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/why_is_steam_integration_different_than_the_others

When trying to sync my Steam Library in the GOG client it is giving me an error.
"Sorry, we couldn't load the data. retry"
On the settings window at the Integrations it shows also an error:
" Plugin has crashed. Retry"

Anyone know how to fix this?
Already closed the program and tried again.

It could be related that my Steam library is kinda big.

Yeh ,i think it is + reddit hug of death. I had one crash and 4 or 5 "couldn't load the data. retry".

This is what i posted elsewhere ,i got the game even though it was still halfway through importing my steam library.

I did a search for 'the witcher' after syncing steam with gog through GOG Galaxy.
There's a little search box at the top of your Galaxy client.

I opened up "The Witcher 3" from search results.

On The Witcher 3 page there is a small image with a "claim now" button.

I already had the dlc on Gog from a free offer they did a while ago so that might help some people if they don't have the full game on steam.
Maybe you also got that got free dlc offer ,it didn't need ownership of the main game to claim it..
