READ BEFORE POSTING!

Short version: "Bump thread" button for the creator of the thread which he can use only once per hour(or possibly some other time period).

Long version:
Ok, so I recently made some puzzles and found it quite hard to keep my threads from going to page 2 or further back. Most people don't look at threads past that point(or at least I assume that) so I need some way to keep them in an easy to find spot with out having to resort to pointless spam in order to bump them.
The idea is simple. A "Bump thread" button next to the "Edit" button only available to the original creator of the thread which instantly bumps the thread to the top of the list as if someone posted in it with out actually changing anything else(as in, the last person who posted and the time it happened remain the same). To avoid abusing this it should have a "cooldown" of a least one hour(maybe more).

Also, this is just a suggestion. If you don't like the idea or don't like someone not liking the idea, please keep it civil. :)

I really don't think this is that much needed, but yeah it wouldn't hurt, I guess

Ah yes, have exactly same problems. Sometimes you have to like wait some time to reply someone not to "lose opportunity" for a bump :3 'Cause just posting w/e feels silly. But I could at least alwasy post an update what's going on with the puzzle. Still, very nice idea.

Just make a post that says "bump".
Yes your button-idea would be helpful, but it seems like a lot of work to make something that's only marginally easier to do than what we can do now.

Think of it as quality over quantity. I always try to post only when I have something to add. Just posting once "Bump" might not be spam(for some people), but sometimes just one bump isn't enough.

You can post and then delete the message, same effect than the bump button (I noticed your last thread got really low visibility, for this reason I posted a "bump" message, despite that it reduces the odds of winning).

Oh. Well, I honestly didn't know I can delete my posts just like that. So not everyone know they can do that. In any case, it's up to support to decide. I'll leave the thread open in case anyone has anything to add, but I guess this more or less ends the discussion.

Even with the "cooldown" I can see some users bumping their threads for no reason at all. It makes sense in the SteamTrades corner, but here nope.

Exactly.

Well, if someone has a reason to keep a thread alive, then sure. And if not, then the mods can close any old threads that get bumped... um, on that note- we probably would need more mods. ^_^

I wouldn't mind having that.

The suggestion is nice, might I add a suggestion to it? If the thread is popular, a bump every hour. If not, 1 at least every 2 hours.

You know you can just post " bump " and then remove it ?
It works

Maybe just separate "Puzzle Giveaways" section or something? Not finished puzzles are open, rest is closed. Simple as hell and very comfortable to use.
No bumping needed then, all "you can still win something here" puzzles would be open.

Bumping is rarely a good idea. It's bad enough when people post "bump" to do it. Why make it easier?

I'd vote for having separate sub-forums for well-defined types of posts. A puzzles forum would seem to make sense given the number of puzzle posts we have, and the need to make them findable.

I don't see the point. A valid discussion will stay active as long as people participate. Bumping just feels like it's forcing people to talk about it for the sake of. Let the thread die if it's its time.

I prefer the long version, especially the cool down idea. But I think you can just simply reply to one of your comments until there's no new comments to reply - that means it's the end.

I suggested a Favorite button before, seems most of the members not concern about it. So let it rot there. :P
