Nope, I prefer the standard in-game overlay.

Once...when I accidently hit the big middle button on my controller when I first had it and was getting the hang of it. Freaked me out for a few seconds as I tried to figure out what it was and what I did. No reason to use it, so never gone back to try to use it.

I never missclick on the button, but often when talking with friends i accidentally press alt+enter (because alt for a special character at the end of the sentence or whatever) and that also puts steam into big picture ;/

I use it when I'm playing with the gamepad

I used it with my 360 xbox controler when i was in bed when being sick. It actually worked really great, even for browsing + it has a filter which filters only gamepad supported games

Wow, congrats to everyone in this thread on not being the target demographic.

Big Picture Mode is for people who are using PCs without a keyboard and mouse, for example as a HTPC or in a console style setup where they may only have a controller connected. It's of very little use to the average desktop user.

My PC is permantly hooked up to my living room tv and I still use regular old Steam. I have a wireless keyboard on my lap and wireless mouse on the arm of the chair.

I do actually use a controller for a lot of games as I have much more experience using them and only came to PC gaming in the past 2 years (outside of getting Football Manager every year and Skyrim). If I'm doing that I'll use regular old Steam, launch a game with the wireless keyboard and mouse, put them to one side and then use the controller to play it.

Hi.
I find this too intrusive.
whereas we want just to play a game.

When I want to play a game with my wireless X360 controller I use Big Picture. It's really useful in that situation. I like how the overlay is well optimized for the controller, and I can quickly look up a guide if I get stuck.

But I don't use Big Picture when I'm on Keyboard/Mouse.

Also, I'm very surprised that so many people lauch Big Picture by accident, I never do that. lol

Press alt and enter too fast while typing.

I don't use it.
I turned it on twice, both times accidentally, and all I found it to be was annoying. I'm on a computer: Why trade a fast UI for a clumsy one?

However, I will say that if one were using a PC as part of their home theater system, and treating it as simply a method of serving up audio and streaming video, and as an extra video game console, I could see where the Big Picture menu might, might, be considered a welcome and thoughtful addition.

So thanks, Valve... even though I'll never use it.

It's designed for controllers

I use it when I connect my PC to my TV and play with my Xbox One controller. Any time I play a controller game I'm usually in Big Picture chillin on my couch.

My Keyboard is not wireless so getting up and down from the couch is kind of annoying. Big Picture makes it easy.

Isn't the Xbox One Controller wired for pc still?

I believe it is only wired for now until the release an adapter but my USB reaches my couch just fine from my PC.

I always use it when I'm playing with a controller. Makes it easy to navigate through the music screen for example.

I use it every now and then for those games with native controller support (Kingdom of Amalur, Alan Wake, Darksiders, etc.), it works perfectly fine on my rig. Why hunch over your keyboard when you can play comfortably on your couch in front of the big flat screen TV? :D

Exclusively. In a living room setup you game on a tv while on the couch. The desktop version is worthless for that kind of layout unless you have eagle vision.

It isn't meant to be used with monitor/keyboard+mouse setup. I have my laptop plugged into a TV and I play with a controller while laying on the couch in extremely inelegant pose. Big Picture is just it for the cases like this. And since few months ago it doesn't actually lag like it used to.

I use it and alot, it's like a console and very immersive, but for use it you need a controller for sure (x360 for example which is the best). Hope they continue improving and bringing new things to the bigpicute mode

Yeah, Steam has Big Picture, the streaming thingy, the planned(?) music thingy and a coffee maker.
I wish they did something about the recent Greenlight mess instead...
