The email used was indeed from Steampowered however the link uses with the click thingie seems odd at east (sorry if the image is tiny)
I did not click the link and went to Steam via my own bookmarks and got no notification except the usual request for authentication.

Is it safe to say this is a phising attempt and if not how do I contact steam?

Definitely a phishing email.

  1. It was in the spam folder
  2. Link is not Valve website
  3. The email URGES YOU TO HURRY (this is a dead giveaway)

Yes, terrible writing too. Repetition with 12 count of the word "account".

Should they also use either my real name or account name in addressing me? That is why I never click the links they use and always use my own booknarks
thanks for the tips though, should help make spotting shite easier :)

This, although it's a rather good attempt compared to the usual phishing mails.

There are tools to report scam attempts inside the Steam client, but I haven't found a definite answer about fraudulent emails.

Imho it's an attempted phishing scam indeed and good for you that you used common sense.

Thanks, I have learned to never click links in mails unless you know the person but always go to the site directly
think that saved me now because this mail looks really professional

Using common sense and not be (too) curious goes along way with these kind of mails.

Thank you all for your advice, sure it is a phising attempt now. Does anyone know if Valve/steam has an email I can send this too so they can investigate?

According to virustotal, Sophos AV marks it as a Malicious site.

It's also blocked by my ISP (Virgin Media - UK).
