steamcommunity URLs are okay, but whenever I try to enter store.steampowered, Avast starts panicing, and it doesn't let me in, resets the connection...
I thought it were the extensions, like Steamdb or EnhancedSteam, so I got rid of them, but that didn't work. Scans didn't show any threats on PC.
What do?

firefox is working just fine to me, only edge and chrome avast blocks steam

Avast also blocks the steam client for me. I wonder if Avast has issues detecting something through firefox, because the offending bit of code should still be there.

steam client uses chromium as the browser, no idea what it is about chrome/chromium that is triggering avast. but that is the reason the steam client is still triggering the same as chrome.

Same thing is happening to me. I'm going to take a wait & see approach to this, it's most likely a false alarm, but malicious code has been spread this way in the past (though it's usually through advertisement banners, something that steam does not use)

Settings > Components > disabling Web Shield for now solves the problem.
Definitely not a sound long-term solution, though.

It's not the first problem like this from Avast, so you need just to wait for next avast update.

I stopped using Avast some time back because it had gone from being a very good antivirus to being a very annoying antivirus

Avast detects this as malware on some pages http://store.akamai.steamstatic.com/public/css/v6/home.css

Doesn't stop me from accessing anything though.

OK, so I was looking around and noticed the latest update signed me out of my Avast account.
Signed back in, deleted the whitelist entries for Steam store & community, and all is working fine again.

TLDR: make sure you're signed into your Avast account within the app itself (upper right of the app).

I was having the same issues, and I had also been signed out of avast.
Signing back in seems to have solved the problem

Okay, seems like somehow a steam cdn ip has landed on the avast block list.
You can work around this by adding that IP to the exceptions list

Go to Settings > General > Exceptions > URLs
and add 66.198.26.16

Same problem

added http://store.steampowered.com/ and http://store.akamai.steamstatic.com/ to the exclusions in avast and it seems ok now

Glad I stopped using Avast. Uninstalling it fully is almost like uninstalling a malware. Really hard. Some components stick like stubborn crazy and keep blocking stuff you don't want blocked. Needed some sort of a complete cleaner kit to remove it.

BATTLECREW Space Pirates)
