Games developed by Valve generally don't get discounted anywhere else. If they do then it's very rarely and the discounts are insiginificant. Do as the other guys suggested - wait for the summer sale, it's going to be 75% off for sure.

Some people managed to craft 90% coupon for HL2 recently so i suggest you to find someone with it or someone on Steamtrades with a cheap copy who used that coupon

If you want not just Half Life 2 but all of the other Valve games as well, it is quite probable that the Valve Collection will be 33-75% off, if at the very least Half Life 2 itself on sale. However, if you don't want to wait, MrCastiglia's suggestion is certainly the way to go.

You can buy keys from the community market, then trade them with someone for half-life 2. Keys are cheaper on the community market than they are in the mannco store. You can probably find somebody who will take 3 keys for half-life 2. So you'd basically be saving a few dollars. But if you're not used to trading, maybe it's not a good idea. Still, if I needed hl2 in a pinch, it's probably the method I'd go for. That or I'd try and track down one of those 90% coupons xarabas claims to exist.

Summer sales ? I am new to steam so i do not know how cheap summer sales will be but everyone says it cheap , but will it be cheaper than GMG i wonder?
