Just about shltty bundle websites?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Back in the day 2016/2018 Gogobundle and OtakuBundle seemed an ok bundle site.

The important thing here is that if devs want, they can remove all the games we have in our accounts (except the ones bought via Steam) and we have no say on the matter.

Permalink

Which is why I rarely use bundles since this started happening.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's not about shittybundle sites, it's about this:

Same. I don't understand why Steam doesn't set a maximum time period after which a game can't be revoked. If a game was activated 4 years ago, a developer revoking it can only be a scam

It's from a comment from the Steam discussion.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Knows what is the worst? The dev won't win nothing but hate for it. Isn't like the money of people would go back to him

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I feel it's not that difficult to do things the right way.

  1. Post a public announcement about what's the problem and explain everything (according to that troll user -probably the dev himself-, he wasn't paid, he sued them and after 5 years of litigation things could not be solved legally). Also set a date for the revocation of the game due to the problem explained before, and clearly announce it.

  2. Revoke the game and leave the game at its original price (0,79€), do not increase the price to 4,99€ just before doing so.

  3. Announce a special sale, at the maximum discount you can offer for a limited time, so people can buy your game again as cheaply as possible, if they want to do so.

If a developer would explain to me that a bundle site scammed him and that he wasn't paid, keep me informed about everything, including his intention of revoking the keys obtained from that bundle site, and a revocation date, but giving the option to buy the game again for cheap as a sort of "compensation", I might even buy it again "legally" on Steam.

I'm sure that if this dev would have acted like that, hate would have not been this big, plus he probably would have make more profit than what OtakuMaker was supposed to pay him (maximum sale price should be around 0,22€ I think, Otaku probably paid a lot less than that).

Thing is if it is just reported to Valve nothing will change. They won‘t do anything to protect their users unless some regulating authority forces them to change practice.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Chances are they don't want to deal with the keys revoking issue since they want more people buying directly from Steam where they get the biggest cut, and don't revoke games (unless for payment scams).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The answer is simple. Complain to Steam. Complain to your country's consumer protection agencies about both Steam's practice of removing legitimately paid for keys and complain about this developer.

I believe Europe has better protections for this sort of abuse than the U.S. and this sort of fraudulent transaction can result in serious fines.

The Dev made a deal with Otaku...he has no right to punish the consumers over his mistake for not getting paid first...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That is correct about Europe. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I do not have the game to file a complaint, but regardless of that, that kind of such a jackass move after all these years makes me concerned and angry! What will happen if others adopt such practices in the future? It's so freaking unfair for the customers to be treated like that...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

In theory the EU should be well equipped to handle consumer rights but they usually go soft on big business. Like when the EU accused Steam of violating their antitrust rules - Vakve simply did not care or cooperate with the investigation. For this they paid a small extra fine, which was probably not even a day‘s profit for them and simply went on.

Best in this is that they don't give a shit - Valve got no cash from generated keys. I even asked support and all I got was information to ask publisher since he revoked keys. Until Valve don't block revoking old keys, we can get to situation when even bought from HB or GMG will be revoked after 10 years due to license issues or publisher bad day... GOG is looking much better in that light... at least you can get an offline installer.

Everyone that has posted on the Hare forum is subject, or will be, banned for any comment. People, including myself, have been banned for petty things, some people have been banned for simply asking why. So be careful, those developers ARE SCAMMERS and attempting to hide (delete) the truth.

The developer deleted 17 posts in hare and 12 posts in Drawgaem which is their other game. Both forums are subject to bans if anything is posted about key revocations.

And this is how Steam support won't help you.

This community hub ban was issued by the developer's moderation staff.
Developers follow the Global Rules & Guidelines, but they may also have specific rules regarding what content is acceptable in their game hub.
We won't be reversing their decision, so we recommend contacting their support team for further information and to appeal.
If you have other questions, let us know.

in other words:

got another one:
[quote]
We encourage developers to use extreme caution when moderating their communities, especially when considering bans.

Not being careful in this regard will lead to anger, decreased confidence in the product and ultimately can be detrimental to the success of the game.

Some of that information is here:
https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/marketing/community_moderation

With that said, we give devs control over their own hub, including discussions and user-created content.

This happened to me too. There was one user standing up for everyone, who was clearly a shill: either the developer on another account or one of their friends. The dev banned everyone who commented. I mentioned something in the discussion for his new game and was banned from there as well. Because that counted as two bans (I've never even had one in 17 years), I couldn't participate in community stuff for 24 hours because of this shyster who is stealing people's legally-purchased keys.

I've reported the dev to Steam support...no answer on that one. I opened a ticket with support about my ban, asking to have my record expunged and again alerting them to the toxic dev. They've agreed to leave the ticket open so that we can communicate, but haven't taken any action yet.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

steam support will answer:

  • devs can do whatever they want in their community hub, as long they stick to the rules/guidelines of steam
  • they have their own rules what you have to stick
  • we will/can not remove this community hub ban, you have to talk to the support of that game

no one tells you what rules theses devs have ;-)

  • aka: steam dont care what devs do in their comm hub, as long its not right wing speech (domina) and they do not interfere in their decisions of banning/deleting.

they get paid by them (not only this one all others also) so they do nothing against these scammer/liars :)

2 weeks gone, not only no replacement yet, but not even an answer. Apparently he sent a replacement key to another buyer and apologized for delay, because he wouldn't get enough keys from Steam, but that should be sent to all requestors or they should update the announcement.
