Its been 10 years already? I remember I stumbled across this site when it was brand new. I read the rules and mechanism behind it and it sounded too good to be true, so I obviously thought it was somehow a scam site. Why should there be nice people on the internet that want to spread happiness to others?
Only years later I went back and saw that this site is still going. I took a second look and decided to try it out. Since I was a total noob I just joined everything from top to bottom till my points ran out.
A week later I went back on the site and got some strange pop up of a cat in space having a major shaking. Lo and behold someone send me a game key... It was "deadly premonition". A few shovelware wins later I realized something: Apart from promotion people just share their bundles because they purely can, not hidden intention, no other bias, just to be nice and brighten up someones elses day.
At this point I felt a bit of ashamed for trying to grab as many games as possible and tune it down only to games I really was interessted in. But first step was to not be leeching of and be part of the community.
My GA-game is still weak compare to others here but even with a long drought I wont miss this bunch of awesome people I met here. It saddens me when I still see people with years on here and still aweful ratios (or worse abusing group GAs or regional pricing to boost their level only to collect trophy games, but you will always have egoist people that try to prey on others). But this is a time to celebrate and not complain! So raise your cups and cheer to all of the crew, who keep this site running and controlled. You doing a tremandous job :D
Special shoutout to all you riddle constructors that put alot of effort into their hunts. I put 100 of hours into the most intricate brain smashing puzzels here and enjoyed it all (even when its sometimes suuuuper frustrating to get stuck in a dead end, but thats also part of the game).
Onto the next 10 years with you and all the silly things that run under "its a sg thing" like potatoes in every vote, interstella felines with strokes or just hidden "itstoohard" links in poems.

We did it! One decade of SteamGifts. It's a bit scary to realize 10 years has passed since the site first launched in June 2011, but at the same time it's exciting that we've been able to reach this milestone.
We're going to have a little event for the occasion that will run for the month of June. I spoke with our beloved Space Cat, and he sent me his wishlist of Steam games that he would like to see for his 10th cake day.

On a more personal note, I want to thank everyone for being a part of the community and the journey so far. I certainly didn't anticipated the site would turn into such a large part of my life or that it would grow into what it has become today. I'm always impressed with the people here - the creativity users express in puzzles, trains and events, the hard work invested into the third-party tools and add-ons expanding the functionality of the site, the wealth of information and resources people have taken the time to organize and share, the life stories, accomplishments, and struggles people have opened up with over the years, and the friendships that have been formed. These are things that I never expected when starting the site, and they're the things that make me the most proud of the community.
When it comes to giveaways, nearly 8 million games have been received by users of SteamGifts throughout the past decade. It's an incredible number and I believe it's a testament to the generosity and kindness of the people here.
