He also said about Genisys “I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated, like this is a renaissance [...] If you like the Terminator films, you’re gonna love this movie"

Though the 3rd one was really just mediocre, I really loved it's ending and that they actually went with the "dark" endling...

Yeah that's a good one :)

Edit: In case anyone is curious about the removed video..it was the ending of T3.

Nice and interesting but the best Terminator movies to date are the first two. ;-)

we can argue forever which of those two is better, and which of the rest suck worse

I prefer the first movie, though I understand why people say the second.

The rest.... are a waste of celluloid

Didn’t like 3 and Salvation. I love Genisys. Shame that it looks like the plan to continue that plot was cancelled. It had the most interesting story. Was looking forward to what happens next. :(

This is good, Cameron did some of the greatest Sci-Fi films in the 80's-90's. Then he dissapeared from the radar. Hope he goes back to his roots. Too much CGI makes movies look bad.

If Brad Fiedel is doing the music for it, you bet I'll be watching!

I liked Genesys. It's not the new hghlight of the series, but it was an entertaining action romp all the same.
And sure, it shits over the timeline again, but that's a core aspect of the franchise since T2 anyway. That established early on that Skynet now originated from recovered Terminator tech, and the ending bends the timeline some more for good measure.

It's pretty safe to say that every one of the movies and series is it's own iteration of an unstable time loop.
Genesys is the first one where multiple iterations of the loop collide though- and although that moslty affects the first act of the movie, it did hold promise for more.

Got to admit I have never watched Genisys - is it any good at all, or just a bit of a fan romp ?

I have seen it, it is "Meh". They tried too hard to fit it into a PG-13 rating and honestly has a tone less like Terminator 2 and more like Transformers or something.

It is worth a first watch, but honestly marketed more at kids and early teens than actual adults who grew up watching it.

Edit: I believe it is on Hulu if you got it.

Seen them all, it is better than Rise off the Machines by a large margin. So if you have seen that, you have seen worse.

I put it as better than Rise of the Machines but worse than 1, 2 and maybe on par with Salvation if not a little worse.

I just hope they do it justice and actually allow it an R Rating like Judgement Day.

When they try to kiddy it down to the PG-13 ratings, it loses a lot of its entertainment value. Not saying gore and violence for its own sake is a good thing but you shouldn't dumb down the story to remove it either.

If Genisys had an R rating and actually dealt with a more serious tone, it might have been better received, but when the tone and style feels like it is matching the Transformers movie or Turtles with less humor it just doesn't work.

Do you mean this James Cameron ?

James Cameron? If they wait until he finishes all the Avatar sequels, they may as well give the direction to someone else.
He was planning to make Battle Angel Alita for 10 years or more,

Dark Fate is not a good movie title. Makes it sound like a low budget sci-fi film.

The other ones were big budget and sucked (Genisys was sorta ok), so what have they got to lose?

After what happened to Gunnm (Battle Angel Alita, ie. a great story Hollywood butchered), I have no faith anything Cameron is a part of anymore. But good luck to any Teriminator fans, you'll need it for this franchise to be brought back to the glory days of T1-T2.

Dropping a vote for Sarah Connor Chronicles just to give it a little more attention. Re-watched it recently and still enjoyed it. It's not better than the original two films, and has its own share of contrivances, but it's way better than some of the newer additions to the franchise, and has Cersei Lannister in it.

In optimistic, but not hopeful, for the new one.

I'm pretty optimistic after having seen the trailer, sure I'll miss John Connor but this movie seems to have a dark ambience, something that was missing in the bad sequels. I still remember how disappointed I have been when I saw the star-glasses joke/parody in T3, I was in the theatre, waiting for a sequel to T2 for more than a decade.. So here we are, this is my sequel and it took only 28 years.

They're, like, 20-30 years too late for that, imo.
I loved Judgment Day back when I was a kid.

Trailer looks real good. And very dark.
And it looks like they blew the "mythology" wide open, which is something the other movies just weren't able to do.
