open borderlands 2. go to extras and there you can redeem the codes for golden treasure keys for an ingame treasure. Or so :P

Write the code down with a #2 pencil on seven unlined 3x5 cards. Mail one to Gearbox, one to your mother, one to the IRS, and one to the British Hedgehog Conservation Society. Eat one, burn one, and bury the last under an evergreen tree. The keys will be delivered to your sock drawer in 5-7 business days.

Print it and hang it on the wall.

Nah, it's entirely optional, you basically pay a key to get 2 items at your level, rare drops can spawn from them but the quality is hit or miss.

why do you think you ruined the game for yourself?

To an extent, yah. Now all the loot that the enemies and chests show will be shit compared to what you're carrying, but if you play this game with a friend like it is meant to be played, it will not matter. :) Just plan to spend just 1 or two keys a level and your next playthrough(s) will be fine. This is all depending on the player too, though. People can even cheat in these games and still get fun out of it while others will not have fun unless they use the weakest weapons in the game (good god I hope I am wrong on that though).
