Please read the Steam Trading Cards FAQ carefully:

How can I get trading cards?

You can get trading cards simply by playing one of the participating games. As you play, you'll occasionally receive trading card drops which will be placed in your Steam Inventory.

I know how to get the cards (buying them, play games, idle master etc.) but I was just wondering if there was any way to not get gameplay time but still get drops.

IdleMaster or similar programs EMULATE the playing, so you only have 3 ways of obtaining card: buying them, playing games, and trading (including gifting).

If you mean without playing them, use idlemaster. If you want to get them without having it show up as you putting gametime into it, you can't.

It might be possible but not something you can do intentionally or replicate as far as I know, sometimes when I play games on Steam, Steam doesn't properly record my playtime stats, so even if I play a brand new game for an hour, it'll show up in my recently played as 0.0 / 0.0.

I'm not 100% sure if you get card drops or not when this happens, it happens so infrequently and seems rather random.

That may be due to steam not being online,if steam is not connected to online it will not log hours,i have had that happen quiet a few times, start a game play it awhile, decide to start another game, find out steam lost connection, start said game play for a bit and no hours logged.

Also what your asking is not possible,if there was such a bug that did not log hours once in awhile, you would still not get any card drops because you have to log hours into the game.So you either have to wait till you actually want to play the game,or well just do not get cards.

Why does it matter about hours anyhow, they mean little,as there not a good way to tell how much someone likes a game or how much they have played, only how much the game itself has been running.

So basically you want to know if you can get card drops without game time so you can refund them?

Short answer is no.

No, I was wondering if you can get card drops without steam showing how long you've played a game.

As I know you need more than 40 minutes in game to get the first card :\

You need at least 2 hours. Not sure how long it's been this long, but I guess it has to do with the refund.

I've gotten cards with less than 2 hours play time

When was that though? I think this rule was implemented around the time of the refund system. Link

They drop after game time. That is the trigger. That is why Idle Master adds time to the game.

You can't, although you can use my ASF to farm while not showing yourself in "playing" status, so you can in fact farm cards while never "playing" any game on steam. It's called offline farming, and it's one of those things idle master will never have becaue of how steam client works.

I've heard of your asf, not used it yet though (installed it a few days ago). This offline farming does it show like 2 hours played (ingame time) or no?

You can not farm cards offline,no way, hours are not even logged while offline.,and again how many times do people have to tell you it is not possible to get card drops without logging in hours.

You can be showing as offline while farming cards so nobody knows your on or playing a game, but that only shows offline on you profile and friend's list you still have to be logged into steam server to log hours and get card drops.

Something tells me your trying to find a way to do this in case you want a refund you will still keep the cards...as all the time i have been on Steam i have met card junkies.game colleters, chevos hunters, and people who will only buy games on Steam, but i have never run across anyone who wants to run a game without logging hours lol.

I'm not trying to abuse the refund system trust me. It's just that I've a few hunderd card drops left and I don't want the game time to show on my profile. And about the offline thing you said that's what I was asking so thanks for your answer. (Edit because of auto correct).

Well you could see why some would assume that given how hard you trying to find a way,ya know?

Like i said then the only option you will have is to wait till you play them,or buy the cards now and resell them when you do get the drops and play the game, though you will do this at a loss, but you will not show hours logged until you play.Since you say it not to get around anything,i am curious as to why the hours logged is so damn important.?

Just prefer having real hours played displayed (though is is already not fully the case).

I think that Steam doesn't count very well the real amount of playing time. So, I think that you can't have actual real hours displayed.
I've seen from my profile details many inaccuracies for that matter.

No, because people would exploit the refund system for free trading cards.

By now how everyone's always idling for them (except me) there should just be a "gib cards, revoke refund eligibility"-button, lol

No, the closest you can get is idlemaster which lets you get the cards without even installing the game.
