"now I've actually gotta play this crap?"
Idle like me :-D

Nah, I was actually kidding. My account doesn't show much play because my PC died a few years ago and I still haven't been able to rebuild it. My laptop can play some stuff, but for the most part I play games I already owned on disc that it'll run, like Thief (fan missions all the way, baby!). Doesn't stop me from building my collection in the mean time, and with any luck I'll finally be able to rebuild my gaming PC fairly soon (knock wood) and be able to play my newer stuff bought on Steam. :)

OK then. Well, nothing would have suprised me after seeing thread (deleted now) on Steam Trading Cards Group (made by one of more known SG users, at least from chat, btw) when he was whining like a little girl, because Valve separated DLC from 'games owned' section (turns out he was buying DLC only to have +1 on steam instead of actual values... <facewall>)

You have a load of games, and the most you've played on one is 10 hours, that is crazy. Why do you actually collect them not to play anything?

Oh, yeah, I'm sure there are probably quite a few I could actually play, considering a vast percentage of 'em are indie bundle games. I've simply been spending most of my gaming time playing stuff like Thief (fan missions), ThieveryUT, etc, which I already have off-Steam (I'm a story-based FPS nut). Also, a lot of games I've already played have been "moved" into my Steam library (uber-sales or compatible CD keys), so game play naturally isn't shown for them, either.

its more of a sales tool and a method of stimulating the community market.
There is not reason to do it unless you want to.

It's up to the developers to do the cards/badges/etc. Not all of them are willing to do this.

At least the developer get's like 10% off of sale of these cards. That is always nice. Certainly for an indie dev.

only if you're selling them through the steam marked - which costs 15% fees and is therefore kinda unprofitable

My hand is injured so i can't play any games. I just have the trading card games run in the background. You don't have to play them.

OP means he is treatening steam games already like something collectible.
now with the introduction of steam trading cards he have to actually start the games in order to get those :P

lol Yeah, and now there's even more to collect. It's like suddenly all your games have a bunch of new DLC you have to get now, too. :)

Why can't we craft games?
I'd craft the crap out of Bad Rats in a heartbeat...

I mean, seriously, now I've actually gotta play this crap?
