Sky Cannoneer. It's basically Rampart, but amped up with modern graphics, tech trees, flying islands, and boss battles. :)
The Good Time Garden is another interesting looking upcoming game. Its 2D and seems to be animated frame-by-frame which is always nice, and it's free..

OTHER: Her Loving Embrace is an Earthbound-like RPG with pretty unique battle system that is a mix of standard turn-based RPG combat and platforming. I played the demo and so far really liked it, the soundtrack in particular. The puzzles you encounter throughout the world seemed a bit monotonous though, but given that the game will release as late as sometime in 2022, I hope there will be more interesting ones

Wow, I've just played this game (preview) and it's absolutely fantastic! Of course, not to mention that all the songs are from AVICII and it makes the game even better.

I'm no soccer/football fan but would recommend this game as well, it does SO many things right, and for that they deserve attention and praise.
Games/seasons go by quick so gameplay doesn't get bogged down, the player management is engaging but not overbearing, and tactics can set you up to win games. Substitutions, formations, stamina, injuries, luck all play a factor. Upsets can happen, and it's great when you're able to hold off a superior team (on paper).
Fun game, highly recommended for strategy fans, sports fans, turn-based fans.

Haven't been keeping up with this thread enough, so I don't know if it's already been mentioned.
But if you enjoy your sci-fi horror settings, and your 2d platformer/exploration games, keep an eye out for CARRION, in which a mutant mass of killer tentacles escapes from a research facility and the survivors do their best to kill it before they get eaten and turned into more of the monster. The twist is that you get to play as the all-devouring creature.
