See the section in the OP that discusses this. In short, as straight people we are lucky that we don't need a month set aside for awareness of straight people and all of the special challenges we have to go through. We don't need to celebrate the advances we've made on making it socially acceptable to love somebody of the opposite sex despite the harassment, violence, and legislation trying to prevent us from loving these people the way we want to love them.
And you're not excluded-- you are perfectly welcome to celebrate with them!

The sheer stupidity of statements like yours is seriously astounding.

The reason is very simple. Because straight is the "default". You don't have people getting shunned by their parents because they're straight, getting told that they're bad because they're straight, having to listen to random jibes on the street because they are with their partner in a straight relationship.
Try hanging out with two gay guys who are fine with publicly showing their affection, and sit in a place where people can see them, and watch how people stop and stare, and whisper to each other how weird it is. That's not going to happen when you're out with a man and a woman who do the same thing.
And something that dawned upon me a few years ago is that pride month is not so much a way to bring attention to the fact that there are issues related to how homosexual people are treated (although that is a part of it) as much as it's a way to show other homosexual people that there's nothing wrong with being homosexual. Many people who are homosexual do feel like there's something wrong with them, as they get told by people around them that there is. You may or may not be fine with homosexual people, I don't know that, but imagine someone who's parents are not, and they constantly get told that they are at fault? Imagine how much the kind of support that pride month brings to someone like this can do to improve their lives. If you're straight, that's not something you have to deal with.

What the actual...
Seems a Tennessee Prosecutor believes gay people are not entitled to domestic violence protection. Sigh. This is why pride month exists - and will continue to exist whilst bigots like Craig Northcott hold any power.
BTW - he's from Coffee County - or is that Covfefe County?

I'll be at the Nashville Pride later this month. I've never been to a "big city" one before, so I'm pretty excited. :D

It's this time of year again!
June marks the LGBTQ+ Pride Month all over the world. Many LGBTQ+ people wait all year for this one month, the streets get painted with rainbows, motivational queer and trans speakers share their stories, and we are all reminded how far we've come for LGBTQ+rights and how much more we have to fight to be treated fairly. =3
