EPL starts up in August, but I'm making a genuine effort to get into MLS more this year both televised and live.
Also, we have CONCACAF Gold Cup next year along with the Women's WC, and then we're hosting the Copa America in 2016.

I think my problem with EPL is the same as a lot of other sports and leagues: I don't have anyone to root for, even if I like the sport. I enjoy hockey, football and soccer, but I only have someone to root for in MLS and college football, so that's all I end up watching most of the time.
All team sports are great live, but soccer in person is quite impressive. Its a lot easier to appreciate all of the footwork in person, and the crowds are something else. I went to my first game a couple months ago and I'd like to try and grab another one this summer sometime.

"...the worst thing is, I believe, there is a chance that you lose twice in a row in a tournament in which you've played so marvelously well. You go home as a 'loser' because possibly you've lost the last two matches."
"This game has nothing to do with sports in my opinion," he added. "But I have said this 10 years or 15 years ago and nothing changed. No tournament, no football tournament, especially in the last stage, should you have players playing for third or fourth. There is only one prize and one award that counts for anything and that is becoming champion."

Interesting bit of history: "The United States won third place in the inaugural tournament in 1930 when its scheduled opponent, Yugoslavia, refused to play the game."

It was never going to be like a friendly. You really think Brazil don't want to win?

I think Chile was unlucky by missing 2 goals that hit the goal pole.

That's not his fault most of the players on that team are shit! they are good but not for brazil,They are good for a team from Europe, brazil needs players like bebeto, romario, rivaldo, ronaldo, ronaldinho, kaka and ....

Oh dear... we might be in danger of seeing Brazil vs Germany happen again :-/...

Wasn't Van Gaal who said Brazil was being helped by the refs?
1) Penalty kick, except it a foul outside the penalty area. Red card should be the right card though, not yellow, but some bad refs give yellow instead of red.
2) Second goal was generated in a play where initially the player was in offside right in front of the sideline/assistant ref.
Brazil playing bad makes no excuses but the refs are even worse.
Referee:
Djamel HAIMOUDI (ALG)
Assistant Referee 1:
Redouane ACHIK (MAR)
Assistant Referee 2:
Abdelhak ETCHIALI (ALG)
Fourth official:
Yuichi NISHIMURA (JPN) <-- lol, there is certainly an irony
Good choices FIFA!

The penalty and a yellow card is a better choice for Brazil than red and no penalty (to loose a man is worse than concede a goal... and penalty doesn't always mean a goal). Fernardinho should have been booked a long time ago (the same was in a game against Colombia).
But, yes, the foul was outside of the box (no penalty) and the card should have been red (usually it is a red in this kind of situation).

It's not a matter of "choice". Trading one mistake for the other doesn't make it up, specially when ref mistakes make a difference in the score.

Actually there is even worse scenario: red card and a penalty. Demichelis vs Messi (foul was also outside of the box) in the CL's game.

Well yeah, that would be worse, but this foul was clearly outside the box, so I'm hoping the ref wouldn't get it that completely wrong. They may be incompetent, but I'm really hoping that they aren't using Braille to decide which card to pull.

David Luiz is playing awful since that game against Germany. Now he heads the ball back to the middle of the goal zone.
He's clumsy when defending but missing all his positioning and making bad calls is not usually something you expect from a defender. Specially when he's the most expensive one. This blows my mind.

Anyway Netherlands deserved to win the game. They played as a team, Brazil's players were like "I have to score" and they didn't were dangerous. Brazil could go out from the competition with Chile, that played better and was defeated only with penalties

Actually first goal was awarded correctly, If a defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty area and continues
holding him inside the penalty area, the referee must award a penalty kick.. He could also give red card but in my opinion that foul wasn't enough for red card!

Except that the brazilian defender touched Robben only outside the box
It's a fact that it was a mistake by the ref as much as it was Brazil playing bad. People denying facts are just trying to fool themselves.

lol that was an awful decision. We'll be hearing about that one I'm sure.

The Netherlands clearly deserved to win that game, but man that was some terrible officiating. Perhaps Brazil was getting their karma balanced from all of the favorable calls earlier in the tournament. But you'd never expect officiating of that low caliber in the biggest sporting event in the world. Utterly shameful.

Netherlands deserved.
But I disagree with the "karma ballancing". The only real decision that favored Brazil was the penalty against Croatia. And people started panicking saying Brazil was being favored, after ONE game.
There were plenty of mediocre to terrible officiating during the entire World Cup. That's not exclusive of this game. I hope that tomorrow things go better and refs don't make a difference for the final score.

That was awesome from Van Persie, giving his medal away. I know I saw that fan at a couple of the Dutch games.

It's like a still from a horror movie. Loving the tie though..
