I have been reading up on Elder Scrolls Online some and thinking about getting it if it goes on sale.

Seems pretty decent from what I read but there is no trial I have seen to see. For those that have played it, about how decent is it?

My 2 big things I was hoping for that put me off so far is the auto-aim as I was wanting it closer to Skyrim style where you actually have to aim and the lack of collision detection for PvP which would have made for much more involved and tactical PvP situations and made tanks much more useful.

Stay as far away from ESO as you possibly can. I was a closed beta tester and it was just God awful. Every generic mmo in one with the elder scrolls name on it.

It has changed a lot since then. Haven't played it personally, but just reading about it at mmorpg.com it's supposedly quite different than early on.

Well that sucks. Quit WoW years ago and definitely not going back to that.

Really liked Skyrim with how open ended you could be with your play style and honestly would have loved that for PvP. No intention of returning to the raiding days, but the PvP for such a setup would have been great.

Tried Guild Wars 2 when they gave the free trial, didn't care for it, felt too much like WoW to me.

If you want an MMO with good combat, I recommend TERA. Completely free to play (not even pay 2 win), has great combat and tons of content.

Never played it, but the fact that they took out the monthly subscription should speak volumes about its quality, or...lack there of. At least that's how well the users received it.

Thanks, may look into TERA.

As far as looking at Elder Scrolls, virtually every review I have seen said it sucked on release but during the past 6 months or so has improved vastly with the Steam reviews being mostly positive.

Why I was wanting to get other opinions. Thank you, really wish that one would have lived up to the hype.

Never tried ESO, but I enjoyed Guild Wars 2. Problem was the PvP didn't work all that well for me. I found myself missing WoW battlegrounds, and the WvW was dull, just huge zergs. (though I never hit max level and grinded out gear, so there's that.) On the PvE side, I've heard from numerous people that there is very little end game. You might enjoy leveling the characters though.

As for TERA, I couldn't get into it either. Enjoyed the combat for a little bit, then it got annoying.

check their official forums, you find out pretty quickly not to touch it, especially if you have any interest in pvp

I played ESO from the early betas and maintained a sub for about 9 months after launch, I played off and on up until about the 8-month mark. It went downhill pretty quickly after launch. PVP was fun at first, but cheating was pretty rampant the last few months I played. I've not been back in since.

I've not been back in since the F2P launch, but I've no doubt the first few months of that was/will be far worse than anything I saw before I left. It seems like every time I find an MMO I like, it either gets cancelled or goes F2P and all the crazies, trolls and gold farmers flock in.

Never tried ESO (though I adore the Elder Scrolls single player), but I played Aion for a while a few years ago and had a blast. It's a bit of a grind, but I was good at it and the community is (mostly) great. I became a well known name on both factions before I quit. Even more fun than WoW, though I did miss the battlegrounds an awful lot.

Well, I'm playing it now with the TU launch, I played beta and didn't like it that much, then I played the free time they gave to people that played beta could try the new Tamriel Unlimited content and I really like it. You should see some videos or reviews after the Tamriel Unlimited expansion.

I was also thinking about ESO, my friend lent his account for me to try it out just the other day, and it's only a low level character I tried out (because he wasn't very satisfied with the game) but it looked okay. The combat is refreshing to compared to WoW, but feels console-y (obviously). On higher level there's more fun to be had I guess.

Go try GW2 is you don't mind massive class homogenization and lack of actual endgame content (except pvp).

Why don't you give wildstar a shot now, that it's in a 1 dollar tier in a bundle and going f2p anyway? I haven't played with it, but I saw some vids, it looked decent and the combat seems pretty cool.
