When I checked my profile on Steam and I go to DOTA 2 it says I own the game but how? And I see people are getting free keys for this game, I just heard of someone getting 30 copies so how and why are people getting so many copies free?

Steam gives them away to owners.

The DOTA2bot gives them away for free, and there are a gazillion people trying [in vain] to offload copies for 3 cents on the Steam market.

If you're dreaming of untold riches from re-selling DOTA 2, you should consider smoking less crack.

That price tag gets you a free game and some cosmetic items you don't need.

I played the game for like an hour. Hated it, so I deleted it. Log into Steam today to find I have 30 new items in my inventory. Yup, all DOTA 2 gifts. FFFUUU

Yeah, that's the problem, you didn't play it well, you died a lot and it was boring for you, you deleted it. You haven't played dota yet, not yet... No sir!

Yes, I didn't play it well, I died a lot, & it was boring for me. That is why I deleted it... lol

The amount of times I died had absolutely nothing to do with my decision. I couldn't care how many times I die in a game. If the game is fun, I'll play it, regardless of how many times I die. I just found it to be a type of game I don't like. My friends tried to get me to play LoL... Didn't like that either.

Dota is a free 2 play game, it's still in beta and constantly updated (although it's not really an unfinished game, they're basically adding more features and heroes!).
That $30 price tag is for the items that is included in that early access, Only and only the items, the game it self is free. you can get for like 3 cents on steam market if you don't have an invite!

P.S. There's a harsh learning curve to dota, specially for new players. I suggest you reading guides and focusing on 1 hero at first and there's a new Tutorial like Quests that you can play, it'll teach you some of the basics of the game. It will be updated more.

Over 50 free copies of DOTA 2 in my inventory!

...yeah, it's free. See, the $30 game gives you bonuses that the free invites don't. So you're buying DOTA 2 for the bonuses, really.
