Well, it's definitely easy to level up your Steam account with this event. Hit boost 6 times for 900 coins each time, add in a few starting coins, and there's a quick level 55 badge. I suspect they'll either modify the badge XP or pricing soon. There's no way I should get 5500 XP for 5 minutes of "work".

I don't see the point of getting the remastered version, even at 90% off. I'd rather spend that $5 on something I've never played.

So corgi's member chance to get free game is smaller than other team ?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes. But on the other hand, if you end up with a team that doesn't finish in the top 3, your chance of winning is zero, so pick your poison.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I'd guess, but you have to be in one of the top 3 teams to get a chance at all, so you can pick a less populated team but they'll lose and you won't get a chance at any free games. Basically it's join the winning teams with huge populations and have zero chance of getting a game, or join the losing team and have zero chance of getting a game. Gabe doesn't care as long as you spend TONS of money in the store to get those sweet, sweet boost points!

https://store.steampowered.com/grandprix/rules

The detailed rules are quite interesting.
300 winners from 1st team every day, 200 from 2nd team, 100 from 3rd team

Aaaand...
"Alternate Entry: To manually enter the Steam Grand Prix 2019, each eligible entrant must print their name, address, city, state, country, postal code, email address, Steam account name, and telephone number, as well as the day of the Steam Grand Prix 2019 that the entry is for, on a self-addressed 4”x6” note card and mail the completed card to" etc. etc.
->
"No later than August 9, 2019, Valve will hold a random alternative entry drawing for each 24-hour period, using the same odds as applied for the corresponding 24-hour period’s actual regular drawing"

XD

Yeah, I know how you feel. I've bought most games I wanted to have and the ones that I still need never go below 50% or so. When I first joined Steam, I would spend tons of money each sale, however, past few sales I barely buy a game or two.

Has anyone figured out how to refill your nitro tank? The Grand Prix page says I can refill using points from achievements that I've earned, but every eligible game says I need to expand my tank's capacity and won't let me refill...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Just as it said. To expand capaxity - buy games.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Same here, and also have a negative token balance, so when I do a boost, I don't receive tokens, I only get my balance reduced so to say

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not sure but I think you need to buy stuff (1e= +121) so it expand the capacity or wait every day is +100
"Increase your Boost Meter's capacity
Boost Meter capacity enables you to earn points in the races. All players will begin with a Boost Meter capacity of at least 100 points, and for each day that you participate, you'll also upgrade your Boost Meter capacity by 100 points. Additionally, for every 1€ you spend on Steam, you will upgrade the capacity of your Boost Meter by 121 points."

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I understand how to expand the tank. What I don't understand is how to FILL the tank.

I've got tens of thousands of points worth of nitro available from achievements, but I can't figure out how to transfer it into my tank. I've got one game that's offering 31,000 points of nitro. If I need to expand my tank to 31,001 to transfer that fuel, that's just silly...

Or are you only allowed to fill your tank once per day or some other vague restriction like that?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well you said that steam is saying that you need to expand your tank capacity when you try to fill it... So... Expand it?
You don't have tinier points? Mine was 118points (because it was an easy achievements).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope. Lowest eligible game I've got has 1300 points with it. Probably because I'm a completionist and I've unlocked most or all of the achievements for my recently played games...

Further reading seems to indicate that I can only transfer fuel to the tank once a day. So I've probably got enough to last the entire event just from Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor. :P

Of course Final Fantasy XII is only 20% off and Vampire the Masquerade 25% off. Greedy move, they can keep their games then.

How did I have a negative balance of those bloody tokens? Started with -9000 and even after several boosts I'm still at -3000. Is this some sort of twisted joke?

Did you use those tokens from the lunar sale bug? I guess we may have gotten a penalty.

Ironically, when placing something in the shopping cart, I get this message.

"Redeem your tokens for an additional 5,--€ discount?
15,000 tokens of your 18,166 available"

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh my, that's pretty disappointing, they just continue with their token system which was introduced at the Lunar Sale, and now you have to collect them instead of cards to level up your badge and account.
Not to mention this awfully boring grand prix racing game. Oh yeah, at least we can focus on actual discounts instead of scripts. :D

Happy sales to all! <3

Oh no...

edit : oh i just understood maybe, we pay to increase size of fuel tank and play to refill fuel tank. Ok so we can get discount just playing.

Comment has been collapsed.

I've got almost -25000 coins. Awesome, they've destroyed this event for me by making me pay for their mistake. I don't care about the game & emoticons, but depraving users of additional discount feels a but too much.
