Hey everyone!

As part of my dissertation which investigates Steam users' engagement towards Steam, I'm conducting a primary research regarding the topic.
I would greatly appreciate if you could spare a few minutes to complete this survey. It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. I will not use the seperate answers, only the answers as a whole.

To motivate participation, I added 4 giveaway links to the end of the survey (don't rush through the survey though).
The games are the following:

  1. Yesterday (key)
  2. Space Run (key)
  3. Rise of the Argonauts (key)
  4. Tomb Raider GOTY Edition (Steam gift)

Also, those who bump this thread will be put on my whitelist. I have also made a giveaway for those on my whitelist, the game is Fancy Skulls

All the giveaways will be live until 16th March.

Thanks for reading and (hopefully) completing the survey! :)

Update1: Wow, guys, I am surprised and also very flattered by the fact how many of you completed the survey and bumped the thread! :) Also, I forgot to mention a few things (I had to rush to attend one of my classes):

  1. I removed the persons from my whitelist before the survey was introduced, but do not worry, I will add them once the survey is over.
  2. Those who bumped the thread will stay on my whitelist after the survey is over.
  3. I am NOT a Valve employee. :)
  4. Sorry if some of the statements made you feel uncomfortable or was hard to understand. I adopted them from academic studies.

Update2 There has been more participants than I expected, there are more than 890 answers, a big THANK YOU to all of you! :) However, as always, there have been some trolls who completed the survey only for the giveaways but fortunately this will not affect the results as I will screen them out.
I don't want to sound insatiable but it would be nice to reach 1000 respondents (because it's a nice round number and for segmentation purposes it's better).

Update3 The survey link will be available until 1 March, after that you will not be able to complete it. The results are expected to be shared in late March (as I will have to translate it from Hungarian to English and I also have a lot of things and projects to do mid-semester :( ) I will post the link in this thread and also create a new thread, so if you do not want to bookmark this thread, you can still come across with it. Once again, I would like to thank all of you to complete my survey! :)

5 levels of agreement/disagreement would be enough or even more than enough.

Very much so but I guess they use some kind of standardized scales for these things, I've seen them a lot and they always feel over ambitious. A five graded scale would be much easier.

Yeah I think 3 or 5 would be perfect.

Most of the items were adopted from academical studies in which they used 7 point scales. To be honest, 7 can be better because there is a tendency that people do not really like to choose the extreme points which means that at a 5 point scale most of the answers are 2s, 3s and 4s. And it's not the best for multivariable analysis.

I only got to question 3 and got stuck there. What if I'm always signed into Steam, does that count as "every day"? Technically, I would sign in only on the rare occasion that I restart me PC.

Yeah, I didn't think about it. Please select "every day" or "more than once per day" :)

I like doing more surveys like this than some painfully hard puzzle.

I need another option '8', for the emotion questions. Because Steam is love, Steam is life.

Well, if you don't know the number of cores, please enter "I don't know" or sg like that to the 'Other' option.
As for your other concerns, I consulted with my consultant (lol) and she said it is not necessary.
Btw, thanks for the feedback! :)
