Important part from News
In the last hours, we registered more than 18 000 speed runs! To be sure keys are left for players of the ARG, we have added a restriction of 1 chance per account.
However, for anyone who just joined today, we added more games to the drop table. You now have chances to win The Black Watchmen, NITE Team 4 or Moons of Madness! This little extra giveaway event will run as long as there are keys left, but keep in mind this is not the goal of this project.

You should find it at the bottom of the end-game screen (reference).. You may not have received yet due to the 5% probability of providing it, though people do say that trying multiple time will eventually result.

Hmm, can't really say for sure. Only way to verify is checking other user's ongoing posts... last post on this thread stating it resulted in a key is dated ~10 minutes ago.

Yes, due to the large number of people playing, they added different keys to make sure everyone had something. The game can be either Moons of Madness, The Black Watchmen or Nite Team 4.

Not strange - it was announced in the forum: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1250870/discussions/1/4540134453709392371/

Well, and to stay in the mood of the recent events, it's like asking what's better between toilet paper and pasta. Both are good in their own way and you might want them both, unless you use your kitten to wash yourself and/or have gluten intolerance. They definitely don't fulfill the same purpose.
Moons of Madness, a walking simulator-like (I assume), quite pretty, probably short. There are many of those on Steam, it's probably good but also probably very classic.
NITE Team 4 is a puzzle game that will require a brain, and more than that, patience. And not a puzzle game like a Sherlock Holmes or a Point&Click game. An ARG game (alternate reality game).
If it's the same thing than The Black Watchmen (another ARG game from Alice & Smith), you'll be asked to use Internet, possibly some softwares, send emails to get some data, etc, to find the answer of the riddle. You might want to create an account on their Discord and website to talk with the other players, to gather information or ask for help. You might even want to give your mobile phone number to possibly get calls from the team about missions, or be asked to go outside to take a picture of whatever building and send it to them to unlock a new event for the whole community. It's not mandatory though.
An experience more than a game. You like it or you hate it though. If you don't want to think for hours or even days about the solution of a riddle, well, you might dislike the game. And the opposite.

Just got Moon of Madness. Thanks for the heads up!

Well, that was a nice giveaway! Cyrano Story was kinda intriguing and I enjoyed listening to the audio logs. I got The Black Watchmen but obviously, what I was hoping for, was Moons of Madness. Dang. :o/
Edit: it's sad to see that devs are getting crap from salty people who didn't get MoM.
"it's a scam"
"they lied"
People, sometimes... >.<

I do understand the disappointment buuut... Anger? Being so frustrated that you need to review-bomb Cyrano because you didn't get want you wanted? It just seem so childish. I know I shouldn't be surprised, but still... I kinda was when I saw all those negative reviews. I feel bad for the devs.
Comment has been collapsed.
You missed for sure the last revoked game where the dev said IG sold a part of his games without a contract to do that and without that he got money for it + he don't know that this keys were in use as he revoked/deleted them ?
If so, that dev offered to give the people a key (back) after steam react at his request. From his point of view he wanted to help the people that got scammed.
He got stuff like he is a bastard, he scam people, they will destroy his career and so on [they acted as he murdered someone of their family].
All for a $4 game.
The dev reacted very long very friendly -i had lifetime banned that people after the first insult- and after they don't stopped he banned a handfull. After that they cry/whine around at reddit, sg and so on, how bad he is, cut the info about their acting out and only brought up his acting "he banned people that said something about the revoked keys". (a lot of the people that read that stuff don't looked into the deep and trusted that stories 100% -that is always really strange for me-)
A lot (or all) are longtime members at sg and i think they have drastic mental problems that should be treaten very soon.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh bullshit.
That dev willfully destroyed the legal property of others as a foolish first resort instead of even trying to communicate with the party his grievances actually involved. They did so by abusing Valve's revoke protocol intended for developers experiencing legitimate fraud like credit-card chargebacks... not as an instant-win to resolve whatever complicated contractual disputes between developer/publisher/bundler arise.
Thus, as so frustratingly common, a group of customers whose sole crime was a good-faith purchase they completed successfully were instead burdened with task of restoring their property if capable of proving ownership. They are passed that responsibility for whatever filled or unfulfilled arrangement they know nothing of--nor would they have been permitted knowledge of prior to these events, had they asked--
They've weren't even presented with initial announcement or information whatsoever, needing to seek that out themselves and elicit some response (many developers simply do not ever respond at this point, leaving nothing to be done). They're collectively forced int the role of mediator and investigator here to figure out what happened, whether it was intentionally or "accident", whether someone got paid, whether any one is lying and about what, whether there's proof of any of it.
But those imposed customers must also be therapists who express positive emotions to sooth the developer from whatever burden they're experiencing,,, as it's become their duty to provide logical explanations for "stealing things is still bad" and "people can sell their own property" and "this is not okay" in order to get their ordinary day-to-day transaction restored like any sane matter. Then demand of them such patience and understand, because a developer abused their power again, Now demand of them patience and understanding, time after time, and for however long (its always long) it takes to get the issue resolved for the customer.... usually after the issue gets resolved for the developer first, or at least convincing them they were indeed wrong to make the customers responsible. Well, how delightful and gracious of that developer for restoring those keys. Thank you sir may I have another?
Alternatively, all those people can just accept the new status quo, paying the ultimate cost for whatever transpired despite being the least (as in "not at all") responsible yet also the least powerful party where all other parties can receive their compensation and now tell the customer to shove off... as that developer did in the end, because he can, and you can't stop him. It's only $4. Or 4 cents. Or your time/subs/tasks required as consideration when some giveaway is revoked. Principles be damned, I guess? Stealing a tiny bit from a whole lot of people doesn't matter I guess? Principles be damned? That slippery slop of increasing frequency will just stop perhaps?
But those are mostly central issues involved with every single fraudulent property revoke. I didn't really dig into those specifics here. The insufficient info and usual claims of ignorance or theft somehow despite the obvious hurdle needing explanation... keys could only come from authorized sources, being the developer directly or one of their partners, as all have their monopoly over their IP with no price competition until they allow/create it. So much more acting without thinking, the retroactive justification for theft, the insufficient explanations and absent proof, hurling of grand accusations in all other directions, full censorship of posts/threads with easily unjust and illogical bans for self-preservation/ego, plus what are always crazy legal threats and insane accusations hurled at rightfully upset parties by the one who actually committed a tort here.
Their collective reaction was no more emotional, unwarranted, or downright rude than this very post you're making with such grand indignation, looking down from the clouds. Though, they had a fairly compelling reason for an emotional outpouring--what's your excuse here?
Comment has been collapsed.
Your answer are only a lot of words... that change absolute nothing.
It isn't from interest if the revoke was from a mistake, from a wrong contract understanding or something else.
The dev reacted as people came around with "key revoked", he explained the situation (if that is the truth or not are none of us able to check because we don't seen the contracts), he said he will replace the revoked keys but he must wait till steam give him more keys.
Different people acted like assholes and insulted him, nearly from the first minute on, as bastard and a lot more and that is not ok. Point.
The minimum is to wait a few days till he have got the keys at steam or till it is clear he try to scam people.
He exchanged the keys of a few people that talked with him in a friendly way.
In the end it don't looked for me as he tried to scam people and i don't seen him insulting people as asshole, bastard and such stuff.
And i like to repeat that i had banned EACH ONE that insult me at the first bigger insult or after a very clear warning what happen when the write/talk style will not be changed. He was, much too, friendly before he took the ban action against a few guys that deserved them absolutely.
Your full censorship of threads/posts, unjust and illogical bans, crazy legal threats sentence are complete dumb.
If someone insult other people as bastards, threat them he will expose all infos about each contact he have to destroy the devs career and such stuff then are this stuff against EACH TOS at EACH platform, they are against LAWS and all that he had done against it was absolutly ok.
And if he grab someone and bring him to a court for it then is this absolutely legal and correct. And i would like it when some people get such a consequence when they are not able to control their writings/feelings and can't write/talk in a civilized way.
That would educate them what's ok and what's not. Not only in the society, what's ok in front of LAWS.
It give no excuse for a outpouring in such a way/to get in such a rage about a revoked key after the dev explained the reason, said he contacted steam and get hopefully soon new keys.
And have you, at a time in your life, experienced that someone do what you want when you call him as example bastard ? [I don't say you done that, i take it only as easy example because the dev was called that from a other user]
I never experienced that ;o)
Why i should need a excuse for my posting ? o_O
Did i call someone bastard ? asshole ? or something else in that direction ? Nope
Comment has been collapsed.
In the exact same same post...
""people acted like assholes"
"Did i call someone bastard ? asshole ? or something else in that direction ? Nope"
O_O
Your whole post started off damned rude, inconsiderate, and narrow-sighted in this assessment of a wide group of people with their own reactions / opinions / degrees of (reasonable) anger, which you then use as the justification for censoring them ALL with even the mildest and truest of criticism invalid because it hurts his feeling. And in turn you think this retroactively justifies why that developer actually was valid in stealing after-all and shouldn't even have to replace what they destroyed.... because the people naturally upset with him are upset with him and find his explanations inadequate and feel scammed, exactly as happened. Even though they were forced into the issue, you demand the customers be perfectly patient and understanding here... but it's totally okay if you're not patient and understanding of their impatience to your impatience... so you're now you're allowed to "teach them a lesson" about your personal ruling for how society must behave, even though you're starting from a position that invalidated the typical societal assumptions for behavior such as don't destroy other's property. Try to talk though your disputes first. Be able to justify your positions. And use the damn court for contract disputes.
The fact you would have abused your power from the start to censor and ban everyone who dared express emotional outrage and insults (but it's okay when you do it though I guess?) doesn't make that developer valid, it just makes you WORSE. The very idea is incredibly hypocritical with a splash of illogical, authoritarian power tripping.
Your whole position is like kicking a dog who was just minding his own business. Then when the dog rightfully bites and barks back, you shoot him like some psychopath and cite the fact he was barking and biting as perfect justification.
You're just reiterating all the the points you've made in that thread, and the post I was replying to already. You've just gone on to repeat the same absurdity without ever engaging, effectively treating my arguments like the "bunch of words" you perceived from the start.. While you may have read my reply, it certainly doesn't look like you made any real effort to understand it. Let alone did you consider things from the position I've described or utilize any empathy for that side, or acknowledged the imposition on them as the peaceful party distributed like that kicked dog.
I honestly have no clue how I could address your logic any more that wouldn't just result in the same circular positions... though I guess I don't really need to anymore. I think I've said enough and allowed you to say enough here that it's going to be clear for the majority who come along and read this to tell whether your assessment rings true or whether mind does. I'm satisfied that others will understand the validity of my bunch of words versus yours. So I'll leave it at that.

It is a very big difference between to say some people acted like assholes (what they clearly did in this case) and to personal insult someone as a asshole.
If you can't see the difference question a lawyer or make the experience in a court if you meet the right people.
Funny that you see my post as rude after you say the acting (insults, threats) against that dev were fully ok :-D
The dev don't censored all, he wrote a long time very friendly.
And to say it very direct, if people can't behave what did you expect what will happen ? That he let them attack and insult him for weeks ?
You jump back to the "but he stole the keys from us and because of that the people can do and act in any way they want...".
And that is wrong.
A lawyer and/or a court can help you at that point. Or a easy search in the internet.
It's interesting that you see my theoretical acting of banning people that would insult me as "abusing power".
In my view it is only demanding a civilized way of talking. If it give a problem or not, all is solveable without such insults in combination with threats.
I understand that people were frustrated and i am too if keys get revoked that i bought at a legal shop but then i write the dev and/or the shop, read the answer(s) and between this and that what happened in this case lay worlds.
And my experience are that i got all revoked keys (besides the arcane that i don't tried to get back) came this way back after a few days or i got the money i spend for the bundle (so in the end more as i paid for only this game).
To all the other stuff i don't write something because you want to missunderstood my sentences and read complete other stuff out of my sentences as i wrote and mean.
That costs me much too much energy and time. So it's wasted time.
I am sure you will understand that.
Stay safe

If you enjoyed the audio logs, you might want to replay the game the legit way, or to find a full guide for it. If you followed the short Steam guide with one or two answers per riddle, you then missed more than half of the content, as these answers are the final answers of each riddle.
You couldn't have guessed sleep for the first riddle with the three initial clues for instance. With these three initial clues, you get to an answer (which is not sleep), which unlock the second step of the riddle with new clues and audio, and only then, you end with the final answer sleep. Same for the other riddles (the second one has even more steps, and I still haven't played the last four, probably harder and harder).
Comment has been collapsed.
I am drowning in unplayed games (as most of us are), but I might do just that. :)
And if I do, I will probably end up using a full guide as I sometimes lack patience with puzzles... :o/
yeah... I was really scratching my head when I saw that "sleep" was the correct answer. Looking at the runes, I didn't understand how anyone could come up with "sleep".
Comment has been collapsed.
Just for the record, you had to click on these runes, they show you the clues then. Or else, you're already in trouble.
Three pictures that make you answer no spoil !, which gives you a new document and a short speech of the big voice, and with these new information, you may answer sleep (that's not the only answer actually).
Solid little game, definitely hyped if they'll release a full game like that, as I enjoyed their previous puzzle games. Especially without thousands of people killing the servers this time :D

I'm playing black watchmen and I find that I quite like the structure of the game in terms of story/concept and how the hints/puzzles are given/set up(ie. ordering a product as a mission :>), whereas compared to the more "free form" version of cyrano (click symbols, google the hints given) I can't say I enjoyed as much, although to be fair I did it speedily...will try it again slower paced later.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, they don't share the same gameplay and immersive experience. In The Black Watchmen, you get a task and you have to find a way to solve it, with sometimes the use of computer tools (email, Audacity, Notepad, etc). All that with a backstory and lots of RP. Very neat. Also very hard sometimes.
In Cyrano Story, and also in Ahnayro, that feels a little bit more casual, in terms of gameplay and story. Some pictures or text, and you have to find the link between them. They are still good games though, and Cyrano is free and Ahnayro very cheap, especially bundled with the first season of The Black Watchmen. But indeed, I also prefer The Black Watchmen.
Also, I just beat the game the legit way, at least for the five first riddles. The last one got me hard, I couldn't even pass the first step. I looked for a full guide (not the small one on Steam), and no regret, I don't think I could have solved it by myself, I missed some data.
That was a good game, especially for free. But I liked all of the prior Alice&Smith games, so I was hooked from the very beginning, no matter what.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for the detailed description, because of black watchmen I think I will enjoy the other ones they make to different degrees...probably have to look at cyrano again sometime in the future because I still remember the solutions atm xD
Would you happen to have played the watchmen dlcs aswell? I rarely get dlcs for games but I find I'm liking the puzzles alot...
Otherwise, Nite 4 also seems interesting, a bit pricey if out of sale so I will wait I guess :P since I wasn't lucky enough to win that but no regrets as black watchmen is a very solid and fun game.

About the Black Watchmen DLCs, I bought them all, but I'm still at the middle of the Season 2. I play a few missions from time to time, my brain would explode if I binge-played it. I started January the 3rd 2018 it seems (also Steam says I played 38 hours, but since I tend to quit the game after a while because no need to run it while I'm thinking about the answer with my 30 opened tabs, it's actually way more). And yet, I still haven't played Mother Russia and Alone in the Dark Web. I can give them a try soon to see how they look though, if needed. Actually you're making me curious.
Get the free short Whitechapel DLC by the way. There are also a few short "Sandbox" missions that you'll find in the campaign selection (I've only played one of them).
Be warned, Season 1 and 2 are long (25 and 30 missions, plus some bonus ones), the other DLCs are way shorter (5 missions for Mother Russia, 8 for Alone in the Dark web). Maybe the missions are longer and/or more difficult to counterbalance that, maybe not, I can't tell for now.
Also, don't feel guilty to look for help if needed. They have a Discord and a forum, and on this forum, hints for each mission. Several times I let myself get a hint, and sometimes, it's very, very hard. It's also part of the experience, helping the other "Agents" and getting helped.
Nite 4 seems indeed interesting, even if I feel a little bit scared as I know nothing about "hacking" and programming language. Time to learn ! But before that, I'll have to continue The Black Watchmen. Brain goo incoming.
Edit : Okay I was curious, I just launched the first mission of Mother Russia. They give you two things : a message (one page, alright), and a PDF. The PDF is 51 pages long. What a good start :D

From your answer I can see that the puzzles get increasingly more difficult (as they should) and that they should be (at least mostly) well crafted. I think the achilles heel of many puzzle games is that they make the player feel disappointed from question to solution, not because of the difficulty but because they felt the process/hints to the solution or the solution itself were inadequate.
The dlcs aren't very expensive so I will probably buy them (after I complete the main game), I have a shameful backlog of games and definitely shouldn't buy games ahead of time, unless I find them on sale _
From what I saw of Nite, they seem to have both investigative elements(puzzles?) and programming, given that it's not "programming" only unlike Uplink/hacknet, I would think that it shouldn't delve too deeply into it...
Also, mama mia, 51 pages of pdf xD That reminds me when I first started playing "keep talking and nobody explodes" and going through the dozen pages of the manual....that was the first time I printed actual pdf papers to play a game outside of it...good times :D
Will definitely check out the discord in preparation for the harder puzzles :p If I open 30 tabs of stuff and still can't find the solution, it's time to look for more hints!
All in all, I'm incredibly happy to have found this indie studio through the cyrano promotion. All their games look very neat, I hope they can get more recognition for their work.

Can you get one of the new games if you already got Moon of Madness, considering they just added the 1 game per account limitation?

After winning a key, the game states that starting a new game will NOT give any more keys.

Ooh, nice. I've wanted Black Watchmen and NITE Team 4 for a while now so this is good for me. Although looking at comments it seems like a big percentage of people want Moons of Madness? Interesting. I wasn't late, I was in the giveaway from the start. But yesterday the game didn't work at all. Today, I spent 1,4 hours for beating the game 7 times. I beat the game for the first time almost 3 hours ago. The fact that some got a key, doesn't mean it was not a scummy giveaway to raise awareness about their company in the wrong way
Comment has been collapsed.
Well... it was written on the store page that playing Cyrano Story would get you a chance to receive a Steam key. It wasn't guaranteed.
Almost an hour and a half for seven playthroughs? O_o Did you use a guide? Apparently, just typing the correct answers without listening to the audio logs took about 2-3 minutes to complete the game.
Again, you played for a chance to get a free key... I don't see what was scummy in their GA.
Comment has been collapsed.
So?
The game had problems... Alright. It seems the devs tried to fix issues and patch Cyrano and maybe it was still not perfect... but that doesn't mean it was scummy. O_o I'm sorry, I just really don't see your point.
I didn't run into any problems while playing the game a few hours ago. [ASCII shrug] I'm sorry you did.
Comment has been collapsed.
It sucks you didn't get a key, and their giveaway may have been poorly thought-out in becoming more popular and far easier than they'd ever expected (and further hammered by folks abusing the offer), however it's extremely unfair of you to call it a scam or consider their behavior scummy on any level.
They acted entirely in good-faith from the beginning trying to give out exactly what they'd promised, as always intended, to the very best of their ability, despite a number of hiccups. Even whatever arguable value they received from their free game being listed prominently is greatly dwarfed by potential revenue forgone releasing so many keys for their much higher profile game.
This isn't some grift in their favor here. Consider this: you wouldn't be calling them scammers had the promotion only promised a 1 in 100 chance at a key for completion, per person, as selected by draw a month from now, and delivered that small fraction of keys instead. Yet, their massively more generous gesture has you calling them scummy instead for being unable to keep up with their massive ambition.
Comment has been collapsed.
In a case of a lottery I would have known that I would have little chance to get. Now they were telling us that everyone would get a key, then a 5% chance, then everyone get a key of a different random game and in the end there were many who waste their time and didn't get anything. Their giveaway was too poorly planned and executed, so bad as to cause frustration and disappointment.

Hi, this might apply to you:
Thank you from dev
As we mentioned earlier, for everyone who jumped in the game early while we were fixing these issues, we will send a free copy of any Alice and Smith game of your choice. Next week we will push an update that lets you claim your free copy via the Cyrano Story main menu. Everyone who played between 6 PM and 10 PM EST will automatically get the key, this is a little over 4 000 players.
