I am conflicted reading a post like yours.
I get that someone young, without the chance to work, or someone from a country with low wages, might feel the need to pirate games they really want to play. But looking at a Steam account with 6k+ games and a Steamgifts account with 2.6k games given away, I ask myself, why would someone with that stats need to pirate games when leaving out a couple of bundles should save enough money to buy a new AAA on Steam or GoG.

Information in a case like this is also advertising. People using the given website anyways, will probably notice the change before, people that did not use it before might start to download everything possible right now, "just as a backup".
As I said, I see why some pirate games, but many heavy SG users should have enough money to buy some old game from GoG, if they refrain from buying yet another bundle.
Games that got completly removed from every store are another matter, but even then I am kind of conflicted about promoting a website like the one above.

i buy Steam games from sites like fanatical or HB, you can check my steam account and see how many games i have and share here on SG. Unfortunately GOG games are really really expensive. If there were sites like fanatical or hb with low prices i would buy no doubt.
Also some retro games i can find only there, most of my old games don't work anymore with W10 so that was my go to reference.
Also i didn't even name the website in question. I'm sure any gog fan knows about it. I'm just giving information not promoting or advertising.

Steam account with 6k+ games
Almost 15.000 if you count the ones that don't give a +1. And while their profile shows over 16.000 hours played, they only have three games with any finished achievements (technically four if you count the sample app 480 that is oftentimes used by pirates).
feel the need to pirate games they really want to play
This doesn't seem to be about actually playing games.

The topic wasn't very clear to me (as a non-native english speaker), I thought it was something about GOG official site.
I didn't knew this site, only a versíon with ".com" that is out too.
In Brazil GOG (official) have some good promotions, with the prices similar (or better) than Steam, so I've got several games there.

Honestly, people should just stop pirating video games and enjoy the hundreds of thousands of legitimately free games out there if they can't afford the commercial titles.
To be honest, I haven't pirated a game in ages. With bundles and sales I can get ahold of so many games (good, bad and terrible) that I don't think I can even play in my lifetime. Of course, if you don't count emulation as "piracy".
On the other hand, piracy is not just about playing games for free, it's about preservation. If it wasn't for piracy and cracked/DRM free games, some titles might have been lost forever. And you wouldn't be able to play some of them because you wouldn't be able to get ahold of a machine to play the games and the original games (hence emulation).

he just wants to download everything that's already preserved on GOG
Being on GOG doesn't mean it's preserved (there) but it usually means that if someone bought it and downloaded it, thanks to their DRM-free policy it means it will be preserved. There are many games that were removed from GOG and aren't available for purchase anymore, the only way of accessing them is by "pirating" them.
Some people (well, Nintendo and Sony) think that emulation should be also considered piracy (even nigh treason) but the truth is that if it wasn't for emulators and roms, some games would have been lost forever, since they removed them from the face of the earth. And now, with "online" stores (both Nintendo and Sony) that can go poof at any moment it gets worse.
I get both love to re-release overpriced old games on their online stores, but still they don't release everything from their previous systems, and purchasing (investing money) on them doesn't mean you'll always own them. So... I'll choose full romsets and emulation any day over their hunger for money.
Same goes for Steam, Itch,io and the long defunct Desura. If one day they go poof (like Desura did), you will lose everything. On Steam I think they give too much power to developers to revoke keys (both unused and used) and games from your library, without Steam's arbitration or review. In some cases, when a developer has sabotaged their game's Steam depots, Valve has been able to restore a working version of the game for the people who purchased it, but they still need to address how easy it is for developers to press the "revoke" key in their accounts. Itch.io is worse. Yes, it's DRM-free, but if a developer decides to remove something from the platform, it's gone forever, even for people who purchased it. Itch.io doesn't archive your purchases. Again, the only solution is to download everything you buy, which is difficult and time consuming (not even going into keeping your downloads updated to the last release).
TLDR; digital "ownership" sucks and preservation is needed.

You're right. I hope people also don't have double standards about downloading/streaming movies, software and music for free.
Its interesting how only gaming piracy always gets the moral attention.
But yea, if you cant afford it, you should only stick to stuff you get for free. You do not deserve to watch that Oscar nominated movie or that hit classic because you have NOT paid for it. Those people should probably quit being poor or frugal.
Nor do you deserve to use productivity or creative software such as Photoshop, because you should have paid 15 to 20 dollars per month for it individually. If you cant afford it, you better smarten up and look for alternative free stuff that may not be as intuitive. Because this is a fair world. Every person out there should pay for what they consume be it physical or digital goods.
I certainly hope folks like us with an anti piracy stance, are consistent with it across every platform, content and service. Because that is the right thing for every decent human being to do.

Considering old games on Steam are often sold "as is" without any effort to make them work on modern OSes while the same games from GOG work out of the box. Of course, if you must have all your games on Steam there's a workaround normally provided when you're up to a little tinkering. It would be understandable if GOG's prices were higher but in my experience GOG matches Steam's prices or is even cheaper if you wait for a sale.
I won't touch the question of game ownership as it is sufficiently clear which company would win.
A pro for Steam is their superior CDN. I'm using a little script which cuts any connection after 30 seconds and re-establishes a new one (for reasons). Steam, Ubisoft, EA and Epic can handle downloads under those conditions effortlessly while GOG fails miserably.

You have 11,489 games which you have 0 playtime on. Maybe consider playing what you own instead of crying about the fact that you can't pirate games.

I collect games. So what? I work and pay for them especially if they cheap and come in bundles like Steam games do. Gog games are overpriced. Plus I don't see what the big deal is about collecting games. See it as a hobby.
Then why are you even pirating games if you "collect" them? Brother, either buy the games or shut the fuck up.

where did i say i pirated? you are assuming i did
You literally made a thread crying about a piracy website shutting down. You can't even argue properly.

Steamgifts is not the right place for this post. Read the room :P

Many users here use grey sites to get steam games and now are acting like they are holier than thou. Guess what grey sites are just as bad as piracy. And no i don't condone piracy because i buy games, i even provided SG with lots of games and will continue to do it.
As i said before i was informing not promoting or advertising the site. There's a big difference. Also what if i don't play the games i buy? I'm a collector, i collect games. So what? Am i comitting a crime in collecting games?
