Edit: This information is no longer correct, we have lowered the generation to five percent.

EDIT: Point System Now Live

If you check the top right, there's a number in brackets next to Logout, which represents your current points. At the moment, I sent everyone 100, and new users will start with 25. Now, how it works.

When a giveaway is created on the site, every single member gets 10% of that value in points. So, if I started a giveaway at this moment, for a $50 Steam game, everyone would now have an extra 5 points. When you enter a giveaway, you spend these points. If you enter for a game worth $20, you spend 20 points, and you'll see the number next to Logout drop by 20. If you decide to remove your entry while the giveaway is still open, those 20 points are returned. And of course, if you don't have the required number of points, you're unable to enter that giveaway.

At most, you can save up to 300 points. This way, people can't be inactive for months, and then return to thousands of points, entering everything.

Numbers are rounded up, so if someone creates a giveaway for a $1 game, 1/10 = 0.1 points, but that's rounded to 1, so it helps to contribute to everyone.

What do you guys think? Suggestions? I thought we'd try it out for a few days, and see how things are going. In short, this will allow people to choose which 10% of giveaways they would like to enter, giving them better odds for games they're interested in playing.

Just an idea for the slow down periods where gifts are few and far between, but what about the possibility that for ever 2 hours that someone has not entered into a giveaway, they generate 5 points? In a 24 hour period they would generate roughly 60 points not including giveaways posted, so that people who have less games and thus enter more give aways aren't in a bad situation when huge point total giveaways come up.

10 point per day would be more sensible if you ask me.

I'll bite. What's confusing to you about the points system? It seems to be very well and concisely laid out in the OP.

I had an idea- Maybe when someone submits a giveaway they can earn a point for every 50-100 entries, a bit of a reward for submitting wanted games. Perhaps those "submitted points" could be banked separate from your normally accumulated points for a rainy day or something or allow someone to enter twice into another giveaway.

I don't like this idea, I personally like when people do giveaways for small, unknown gems.

The system is good and encourages good growth with respect to the community and game selection, however, I think it is unfair to those who provide the gifts to not get any extra benefit from it.

So, i have on idea how to make this system slighly better. How about that everytime YOU create a giveaway, you receive like half of the points what is needed to participate to giveaway, like you create giveaway of 20$=20P game, you get 10P. That would be awesome.

Yeah, there's no WAY that would increase fake giveaways.

Well, you could always make it so they only get the points for the giveaway after receiving positive feedback after someone wins the giveaway.
