[SKIP/PAUSE] I pity the fools!

Dumb question, but would someone be able to tell me how to check region restrictions on the games?

If you already activated them: Have the Steam client open, then type and enter steam://nav/console in your browser. This will make the console tab visible in your Steam client.

In the console, type licenses_for_app followed by a 'space' and the AppID number of your game of choice. The AppID is the number after 'app/' in the link/address of the store page for said game (access preferably with your Steam client because sometimes games have different AppID's depending on region). You can also see it by searching for the game on SteamDB.

Typing that command will give you the SubID number in the first line after "License packageID." This SubID is what you need to see the restrictions.

For that, go to SteamDB on your browser, search for the game, click on Packages then scroll down. Or just type the address which goes like this: https://steamdb.info/app/<AppID here>/subs/
Direct way is to just type https://steamdb.info/sub/<SubID here>

i.e. Dome Keeper has restricted subID's. You can click on their numbers to see the detailed list. (Scroll down to "Packages that include this app")

Alternatively, there's the SteamDB extension

So the headliners are a (decent) remaster of a dinosaur and a game that's already been free on two other platforms, one of which is decent imo. On top of that, the last entry is a cheap indie that's been rebundled a ton of times, featured regularly in Fanatical lootboxes, and was even a Steam freebie already. I don't understand people saying it's the best bundle in months.

Aliens seems okay, nothing crazy. 1000 is some mad overhyped interactive anime story forcibly stuffed with a walking sim. Nova Lands is a scummy data miner with unlawful opting-out, apparently. I don't know about Distant, seems mixed.
Diplomacy looks great and I hope I win it before autocharge.

You tried so hard to be negative, so I "speculated" that there must be a reason for that.
Your comment on 1000xRESIST really stood out, for example. It wasn't enough that you don't like it. Nope, it must be "mad overhyped", so everyone else is therefore wrong about it.

can someone tell me what region lock (or what subID) will a game (tomb raider) have if choice was bought in New Zealand? I'm unable to find the sub on steamdb myself.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Option 1

Use https://steamdb.info/keys/

It'll return a link to its package. Just keep in mind that the bot will try try to activate any keys that you submit to it.
Keys for packages that it doesn't own are activated and lost. You can see which games the bot already owns by clicking on "View already owned products".

Option 2

Use the SteamDB Extension: https://steamdb.info/extension/

Visit https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey
Input your code (only single keys)
SteamDB Extension will identify the game and will give a link to the SteamDB package for it.
You'll get the initial "This Steam account already owns the product(s) contained in this offer.
To access them, visit your library in the Steam client." notice, but when you click the 'SteamDB' link, it will bring you to the actual page showing the game

Tomb Raider remaster is one of the most stupidly restricted games i ve ever seen. Why does western europe and na need separate region locks? Why is ROW this restricted? Whose bright idea was that? I gave up on trying to trade for it already. Just curious who sets the region locks?

I don't think region locks will have a significant impact on the grey market problem.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Region-locks plus redemption deadlines are effectively killing it.
With how cheap games go on sale for up to 90% off, grey markets are getting more obsolete than ever.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't mind redemption deadlines, or even different platforms but the region locks is really annoying because I can't even gift games to my friends outside my country due to it.

Same but it's not that big a deal for me tbf. I get my friends a gift or two on their birthday directly on Steam and hope it's on sale around the time.
If a bundle key is region-locked (and I already have the game or will never play it), I gift it someone in my region.

I wonder if Stray is going to be in next month's bundle. The game took a turn into deep discount territory suddenly. Well not like 75% off but 50+% which is way more than it had before and across multiple resellers.
Another one that took a sharp turn into 75% off discount is Unknown 9 and since it's been a bomb and has DLC, it might be more to Humble's pattern.

Any pick for next month?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Without the actual review bombing on Unknown 9 because the incelopathy crowd didn't think the protagonist was pretty enough, lol, I would guess this game would sit squarely in the mid 60's ratings-wise. Which is a great candidate for playing if it's in a bundle or waiting until it's 80 or 90% off otherwise. Pretty sure that studio has since shut down as well, so waiting for the best discount is especially valid. I would not mind it being in a Choice at all.

Stray OTOH. That game is very cool. I would imagine it would be a huge draw for potential Choice buyers. I would probably play it a second time if it was included (I played it once on PSN previously).

So, let's see. Both of those are good guesses. I'm adopting them into my guesses as well. :)

It's only a matter of time before Total War: Warhammer 3 is in a Choice from my perspective. So I'll add that.

Taora: Survival
Grounded
Veilguard was already a PS Plus offering. I would think it will be a Choice offering soon enough. Why not now?
Jedi Survivor is due. Origin key only. :)
Dead Space Remake

Will round out my guesses.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Which is a great candidate for playing if it's in a bundle or waiting until it's 80 or 90% off otherwise

It's at 10 euros on IG right now and I was thinking "let's wait to see if it's in the monthly" but at 13 bucks now? I'll get the game on its own lol
I might get Stray as well. I have waited a long time to play it and 12+ euros seems like a good price for it.

It's only a matter of time before Total War: Warhammer 3 is in a Choice

Considering how many we got from WH in the monthly I'd say it's a reasonable pick.

Veilguard has bombed enough to be low hanging fruit but I don't know if Humble is reaching that high these days.
Jedi Survivor is a sure bet before the end of the year.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Jedi Survivor is due. Origin key only. :)

And it just hit -80% on Steam so it's looking more and more likely.
Probably not this month since the same on Steam is going to May 15th but June? yeah.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Agreed. It's almost definitely coming up soon.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't think Stray is a very likely candidate. It's way too popular and there's still a lot of juice to be squeezed out of the 60% off ($12) price point for it to be bundled and devalued. It's highest historical discount on Steam has only been 40%. Also, Annapurna aren't exactly known for bundling their games.

I think a game like Robocop: Rogue City is much more likely or maybe something from Devolver's catalogue such as Death's Door, Inscryption, Children of the Sun, The Talos Principle 2, Card Shark, etc.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You're probably right. I'm just glad it dipped under 13 euros because now I have the perfect excuse to add it to my treasure chest.

Robocop: Rogue City is much more likely

I was thinking about this one as well. The others are also likely candidates for future monthlies just maybe not the big headliner.

Single use promo code coupon. Coupon is redeemable for a Humble Choice Premium plan at €99 or $139 CAD a year before any applicable taxes and fees. Coupon expires on June 2nd, 2025 at 11:59 pm PT. This price is locked in for 1 year, and this offer will be void if your plan is canceled or paused. Gifts are eligible.
When you redeem the gift, do you get 12 regular month tokens or some weird cannot-pause sub?

I'm sorry, I don't really know if there are any restrictions like "non-pausing months" :\ Technically they didn't specify it; maybe it's safe to guess there is nothing like that?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you are paying for the whole year right on start, you should be able to pause anytime (since you get tokens), if you gonna pay for each month some discounted price, then you can't pause (no tokens ahead).
If it is the former and you paid in advance since there is no more monthly money charging leverage, you can't simply lose tokens by pausing.
