So I am pretty much new to One Piece in terms of the Anime however I have seen the manga a few times when I still had a subscription to Shonen Jump. So I was wondering for those of you who know the story and the games. What games should I play to begin the story with? Basically what game should I play that will bring me up to speed ( at least as much as the Naruto Storm games do for the Naruto anime does) with the story?
I also noticed that the Romance Dawn RPG game is available in a gamestop near me. Should I pick that up? Or would playing that bring me too far into the story?

There's no games that will achieve the actual masterpiece that one piece is.

But if you really dont care if you skip the best moments and see a flat story there's that one piece on steam, it has some of the good moments... but they messed it pretty hard cutting things off since no game will be able to give the full story.

So my best bet for seeing the whole story is to just watch it? How many episodes are there anyway?

There's a few filler arcs, the Foxy Pirates ones are pretty entertaining, but specifically the dragon arc is stupid, and long, I'd wiki which episodes are filler, and skip them, that specific arc is around 70 or so. As warning though, One Piece does not have much long filler lol

I don't mind fillers too much mainly because this will actually be the only anime ill watch that has like over 50 episodes and so I want to experience the whole thing.

It's really sad there isn't a game like Ninja Storm for One Piece. I don't like Naruto much but those games are pretty good.

Edit: I just check out your game and I guess it goes until Marine Ford battle which ends around 480 and it has major spoilers for the anime.

I love Naruto and all the games which is why I was hoping there would be a game like them to catch me up on the story but I guess not :/ So the Romance Dawn doesn't go from the beginning of the whole anime onward?

No, the new game One Piece Pirate Warrior 3 goes from begining all the way until last arc. There is a new arc though But It's pretty fast paced so you won't be enjoying any story from games.

Darn well I guess ill just watch the anime and then play that Romance Dawn game because I'm interested in how well they did the RPG elements

Honestly, One Piece games aren't really good. I suggest you to watch the anime it gets incredibly good after some point. It's the best ongoing anime right now, you won't be able to stop watching after around episodes 100-150.

I don't think I EVER watched the anime but I did read when I still had Shonen Jump (do they still even have that?) and it was "kind" of boring. I guess its because I didn't read from the beginning though. I guess ill end up just watching it

Most of the games don't follow the anime, they're like "side-adventures", although there are a few mentions and jokes that require knowledge from the anime, it's still fully enjoyable if you're starting to watch it. :)

I'm actually downloading the old Gamecube games like Grand Battle and Adventure because I remember playing them when they first came out. I'm hoping these games will give me a good introduction into the anime :)
