I only have a handful people on my whitelist and I'm about to make some giveaways so I figured why not do some WL ones!
I'll probably do this a few times with different requirements each (even though I'll keep it fairly simple).

  1. Don't have an obvious leech ratio (like winning $1k worth games and giving only $10).
  2. Name your favorite game with an LGBT character.

I'm curious about how many are out there. To start off mine's Dragon Age (Dorian and Leliana are just cool regardless). Guess there's plenty of them there so you could probably rip off that answer if you don't know any others :p

Edit: one GA is up and running now and you can join here.
It's a small one and I published it by accident as I was planning on scheduling a bunch for next weekend but I'm too big of a clutz I guess. I'll just put the others up when it's time and avoid more accidental postings lol

Edit 2: Second giveaway is up and running so join here.

Don't really notice if the antagonist/protagonist is LGBTQ or not. I'm just in it for the game, not for ANY kind of politics.
I am, however, father of three, of which two is gay/bi - and I don't give a shit there either.

Look, when I meet a person, my first question is not 'what/who do you do when the mood is on', it is more like; 'where can I find more beer', or 'Hello, my name is Bob', or 'How can I help you'.

I'm usually fine hearing those answers, but as one LGBT person who grew up with unsupportive parents, I would like to give you a piece of advice kind Sir. You should care about it, especially when it comes to your kids. They went through so many personal struggles you never had to go through and sometimes acknowledging that can mean a lot to a kid coming from their parents. Maybe give it a thought or two before dismissing anything LGBT as "just like anything else" cause if it were there wouldn't be so much talk for/against it everywhere. (Also being gay is not just about "doing it when the mood is on" either.)

Yes, it shouldn't be the first thing you learn about a person, but if it's part of who they are then it should be something you pay attention to, especially if it makes them "different" from others. So if you care about your kids, maybe ask them about it and you'll be shocked about what you can learn when you're not in a dismissive mood but rather an openly accepting one.

I think you misunderstood me on the 'don't give a shit' comment.
I mean that a persons sexual preferences doesn't affect how I interact with them, I will treat all the same - so with my kids.
That said, as a parent, I am very much involved with the facts and hardships of being sexually differently inclined/or feeling out of place in ones body. I have gone to meetings with RFSU, with counsellors, we are still waiting for a first meet a psychologist for a possible sex change for one of them, I am being extremely supportive. But in the day to day; I don't give a shit. They are just my children, with all the love that comes with that. Out of three I have had only one fully straight, but he came with his own set of issues, and in the day to day with him, I didn't bring that up either. I firmly believe that being ''just a parent'' AND being supportive when it's needed are both important in a young persons life - If I am ever going to give any of them a feeling of not being different, but of just being 'themselves' - as everyone else is at least percieved as being - then I can't behave different towards them either All the time.

When I say I don't give a shit it doesn't mean I'm not openly supportive, it just means that for most of the time I treat my kids like the very average youngsters they are, without constant special focus on those things that makes them feel bewildered - we focus on that in bursts, when it is needed. Some bursts are long and difficult, others easier. But I fully accept them as they are, I have no resentment or wishes they should be someone they are not. It has been that way since the middle boy came home with a boyfriend and 'came out', it was the same when my little princess said she wanted to be a boy... I see this as the new normal. Treat all people with respect, everyone have a fight to fight, some are harder than others. That's what I mean when I say I don't give a shit. Not that I dismiss theirs, or your difficulties, but that I will treat you all the same. With friendliness and respect.

It is a difficult subject, especially for those that have not had it easy. So an offhand comment like the one I wrote above can offend. That was never my intention, and I hope I have been able to explain that here. If I did offend, I am sorry for that.

That makes a lot of sense. Perhaps I judged your "I don't give a shit" comment too quickly so I apologize for that. Most people I know tend to use that comment to ignore everything that comes with being LGBT, in a way that would rather ignore any such people exist at all rather than think of them as equal and "normal" part of the society.

Knowing more behind it I truly wish we had more people, especially parents, like you.

Thank you. I should of course also have known better myself. When someone asks a question like you did above, it's seldom out of sheer curiosity, there's usually something behind it. I missed that and answered in a way that would seem casual in my home without realizing you'd need very special knowledge about my family to receive it as such.

I'm sorry to hear your parents haven't been more supportive - but never forget you are you, and as such you are beautiful, even on the days when you feel like shit and wish for something else. Never forget you. And you sound like a strong person today, I like that. Never ever ever let anyone take that away from you - you have every right to be you.

Well... I guess if one of the friends you're playing with (or you) is gay then that should probably count as a game with an LGBT character? Sure haha if that's a cop out answer it's the best one I've seen yet :)

I really liked Samantha Traynor, from Mass Effect 3. The most specific reason why I enjoyed her so much, was her voice actress being Alix Wilton Regan, who did a marvelous job.

Hmm.
Honestly, I never really cared whether someone was LGBT or not, so I had to make a quick google search to check up on my facts.
Anyhow, the answer to your question would be Borderlands 2, with Dragon Age being a close second. (Though me liking the games has nothing to do with there being LGBT people present)

I just looked through all the games I have played and to be honest, the only one I can think of that had any LGBT characters is South Park: The Stick Of Truth. I did enjoy the game a lot, but I'm not sure if it is the type of game you are looking for :)

I tried looking through the comments here to see what others mentioned and noticed a few people mentioning Life Is Strange, which is one of my favorite games of all time, but as far as I remember, I don't think the game ever confirms anything about Max and Chloe. I have only played the first game so far though.

I guess one could add it (some kind of form of lockpick) later, but... not really a point due to others you could pick up being already skilled there. I remember his combat being great for support - great backstabber AI, from what I recall... and some stealth, of course. Now that you mention it though, I had forgotten all about his zero capacity to open anything by default though. :D

Thanks for the interesting and unique (well.. I haven't seen it asked at least) thought-provoking question, and also for adding me!

GTA V's Trevor is bisexual so I guess GTA V. Tho Borderlands 2 comes very close too :)
But also just any game that let's me be gay in peace, like Saints Row or for example the Sims. I love that they don't put a restriction like, if you are a male character you can only romance a female character and vice versa.

Borderlands 2 is pretty great on the LGBT and female characters fronts, it's a pretty pleasant surprise for me. I just did a quest for sir Hammerlock involving his ex-boyfriend, and I heard that Moxxi is bi too (though I have yet to do much quests for her aside from some conversations). Transistor by Supergiant Games have Grant and Asher Kendrell who are heavily implied to be married and Sybil had romantic feelings for Red, the protagonist (though I wish they would be more explicit). Adam Miller from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided have an ex-husband and kids. An important NPC in Wolfenstein: New Order have a girlfriend who she is shown kissing at the end of the game if you choose to save her. Sorry for the list of examples, as a bi person myself I'm always excited about LGBT presentation in mediums I enjoy XP. I heard that Bioware games have some very good same sex romance but I have yet to play any games from them due to my massive backlog, but I definitely will try some out when I can. (Also if you are into visual novels most of games by Hanako Games have f/f content, and I heard they are pretty good).

As for bioware games, I cannot recommend them enough, the romances are great (but still advisable to get more mods that make everyone bi, just in case :p) (added)

It's an interesting question, what would count as an LGBT character? Do the story or gameplay have to tie in their sexual orientation? If a character bio in a multiplayer game says that the character is gay, is that enough?
That being said, I didn't see any mention of Saint's Row 4's The Boss, who is pretty much a bi, just like a bunch of others characters in the game. But this character trait doesn't really materializes in story or gameplay (to my knowledge) though.
I guess my favorite LGBT character would be playing female Shepard and romancing female characters. Admittedly there are very few playable characters of this type in games. It would be interesting to see more.

That's a good question too. I like to believe that their LGBT status comes into play as much as other characters' personal loves are. If in an mmo all characters get 1 line of dialogue and devs say someone is gay (but definitely, not as a random off hand comment) I'd count that. But if you got fully fleshed out 30 characters in an RPG and one of them is supposedly LGBT then I'd like to think they deserved some focus on that too. But that also begs to question what's good and what's bad rep :p (added)

Hi, I would like to be considered. :) Life is Strange would be an obvious game, but I haven't really played that game yet myself. Unfortunately, I can't think of any other game right now (except for the Sims - lots of LGBT characters there in my case :D), but I'm always excited when I see LGBT representation in media.
