This seems new as of a couple days ago. Some of you may have been using the dev or Canary version for 64 bit, but now they released it as an opt-in choice for the mainstream stable version. So far it seems a bit quicker reacting to me, and doesn't disable any of my plug-ins. Seems they are a bit ahead of FireFox on this.

Mainly of interest to those running a 64 bit version of Windows 7 or 8.

What exactly are the advantages for going 64 bit on a browser? Stability for 64 bit systems?

64bit Java compatibility was an issue some time ago with the new versions, dunno if that's included here or has been worked around already.

You don't want to have Java in your browser, so the compatibility shouldn't be an issue. The browser plugins are full of security holes. Keep it disabled and only enable it, if you need it for some reason.

Guess it'll only do once you really max it out, like 20+ tabs with videos and stuff in them, or complex web apps.

It changed the fonts (I like it better now), but seems kind of smaller in some sites

It's more readable now, they changed the default font to one of their webfonts I assume.

Chrome from stable was 64-bit here for over a year, maybe two. I'm using Linux though.

Can I 'upgrade' my 32bit version to 64 bit version? I'm using google cloud and all that but there's always some stuff lost when changing browser, I'd much rather just update the current one not to lose anything

If you use account sync you won't lose anything. I've "updated" without any problem (Uninstall 32bit for complete and install 64bit).

I didn't want to lose my open tabs or settings, so I just closed Chrome and installed the 64 bit with no uninstall. Don't know if that was a mistake at all, but everything seems fine.
