Hello! How’s everyone doing?
It’s already been five months since the new year started. Time really flies, doesn’t it?
Naturally, after May comes June — and what happens in June? It’s my Cake Day!
At first, I didn’t really understand what a “Cake Day” was, but it turns out it’s the day (or month) I registered on this site. (Wait, am I right about that?)
Anyway, like many others, I’d like to host a GA (Giveaway), but I’d love to hear your opinions first.
I’m thinking of preparing a gift worth around $50. What kind of present would make people happy here?

🎮 Give away one relatively expensive game worth about $50
🎁 Buy various game bundles totaling $50 and give away a lot of games

I also considered giving away a few games I’ve played a lot myself, but that might be a bit too niche.
Oh, and if I’m sending a gift directly to a friend, should I choose “Gift” as the Type of Giveaway?

Ah, and here’s a small participation prize for the survey. Feel free to grab it
Just a simple bot check, of course.
Ends: May 17, 10 PM (JST), Level +1
If you cannot activate the gift, please agree to have the GA deleted.

I'm having ChatGPT translate this. If there's something you can't understand... please just give up..

If you just want to please the majority , you can check some group's wishlist, that helps to give a good view of what a lot of people would like to win.

Then , as others said, try to find something with discounts, no matter if it's one expensive game or several less expensive.

And finally, the one I have the most pleasure to give are the ones I played and loved but then I would like the winner to play it and they usually don't :p

That's how I like it, planning everything, but the truth is that you've reminded me that my first year here is coming up soon and I'll have to give something as a gift... I'd be happy if you put in a copy of The Last Remnant, which I've always wanted to play and there's no way to get, hahaha, I'm not joking, any option is fine with me, the important thing is the attitude, and yours is always great.

the great Gus! I’m really happy to get a comment from you!

The Last Remnant?
Ah yes, that’s a Square Enix game, right?
I actually picked it up years ago for 300 yen($2) during a bargain bin sale when I bought my Xbox 360!
It was the first game where I managed to die more than three times during the tutorial.

Since you’re always so kind to me, I thought I’d secretly add it to your gift list...

[Steam] < Discontinued
Oh no… it’s no longer on sale…

Well, let’s see if any official third-party sites have Steam keys…

[Official third-party sites] < Nothing there either
Seriously…?
Okay, maybe unofficial sites…?

[Unofficial sites] < Tons of region locks. The price? 10,000 yen (~60 bucks).
……

The Last Remnant?
Never heard of it, honestly. Not sure what you're talking about…😅

I think it really should be up to you. If you give away "smaller" more niche games you like, it's all good with me.

Personally I like the idea of giving games you like, sounds nice, but ultimately any kind of cakeday celebration is welcomed.

I actually really like the idea of doing more niche games, and if not that then i think the various games is better. But all up to you, Happy early Cake Day!

While my initial reaction is "Give a lot of games that are bundled", I've had a lot of mixed experiences with bundled games but almost no bad experience with AAA games priced around $50, so I eventually changed my answer to that.

The risk of doing that is, someone might end up sitting and not playing one game, instead of giving a lot of chances for people to play your gifts. But if you start to overthink it, you'll never gift anything on the site, so there's that

Happy early cakeday!

I tend to enjoy small indie games. I find I can fit in a smaller game better into my schedule than a large, long game. But shouldn't really worry too much about it, it's kind of you to give one away for your own celebration; regardless of what you give away :)

Edit: Just realised the last sentence, "just give up..". Made me audibly laugh. It's so blunt and honest lol. Thanks for the laugh :P

If even ChatGPT’s translation doesn’t get the message across, then there’s nothing more I can do. 😆
Short indie games really are great.
Big-budget games are definitely amazing too, but my brain’s HDD is seriously low on space.
If I take a break for just 2–3 days because of work, the next time I load the game,
it’s full-on amnesia roleplay:
‘Who am I…? Where was I going? What was I supposed to do again?’

This is wayyyy to relatable. I'd like to think I'm a reasonably smart dude, but if I skip a few days it feels as if I've forgotten everything, including the damn controls! So it's much easier just playing something short and sweet :P

I like the brain HDD metaphor; might steal that lol. My actual SSD is also quite small, so I can only have like one large game. I just downloaded Marvel Rivals as my brother has been wanting me to try it out with him. Probably give it a go sometime soon.

Goat Simulator! That game’s insanely popular.
I was surprised to hear it actually started out as a skateboarding game.
My son played it, and he was laughing so hard I thought he might actually suffocate from laughing too much

Happy upcoming cake day!

I agree with Golwar's suggestion. Look for 2-3 unbundled games that are on sale. Then you get the advantages of both options: there will be more than one winner, and the games are more special/exciting than bundled games. :)
And you will probably get more CV that way too!

Thanks and to answer your question
This was mine from April I went with a daily animal themed game - https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/VmhEC/my-cakeday-is-coming-up-please-come-with-me-to-see-the-animals-jigidinona-on-day-2-onwards

Depends where you buy game keys look at the official shops like Win game store, Fanatical, Green Man Gaming, Indigala, Humble etc... and see what look like good deals and keep checking as deals change all the time - so I'd go for whatever gives you best value for money

I also think (but this might be harder to do) love seeing themed giveaways like my animal ones:

Maybe you could do some themed giveaways my son has added lists to his Steam so to give you a few ideas (or anyone else)

He has lists where the name of the games include the following (just a small sample for ideas)

List where each game has a colour in the name (Silver, gold etc...)
List where each one has a type of transport in the name (like car or boat)
List where each one is themed around Christmas (words like Snow or santa)

But do what you want but look for good deals and check on barter.vg to see how many times it has been bundled and what rating it has (no point adding giveaways for rubbish games no one wants)

I would love to see a few games added for giveaways from ones you have liked and played that would be fun - even if I don't enter them it's still nice to see

I think more giveaways would make it seem more fun and give more people a chance to win but that is just what I did/would do

Happy in the future giveaway(s) and happy in the future cakeday

Edit: can't believe your only gonna be 1 years old on here I must have had you on my whitelist for almost all that time - just proves how awesome you are - just checked and had you on since June 8 so maybe first day you where on the site ever

Thank you very much for your wonderful offer.
I also participated in your April event. It was a lot of fun predicting the games while enjoying the Jigidi and Nonogram puzzles!
I’m truly honored to know that you think highly of me.😁
I registered on June 7th, and I was so moved to find out that I had already been added to the whitelist the day after I signed up.
To be honest, I don’t quite remember why you rated me so highly 😅
Rather, I think you are the amazing one—giving away games for free without even entering the giveaways yourself.
Since I'm not good at English, I actually gave you a nickname in my mind: “Santa Claus with a question mark.”😁
I’ll do my best to become someone as wonderful as you!☺

Happy early cake day! Personally I’d rather see some of your favorites, even if they’re niche. It’s always fun to see new or unusual games on the site, even if they don’t interest me personally :)

One relatively expensive game worth around $50

I got curious about niche games. I play a very wide range of games myself, from text-heavy visual novels and RPGs to almost plotless strategy games and sandboxes.
But the question itself is complicated. A large expensive game is something that players can afford to buy less often, and therefore looks more attractive. A group of bright, interesting small games are the ones that are easier to buy, but are less often paid attention to because they are niche, cheap, or something similar.

So I think that several games are better than one. Most users here participate in many GA, if not everything - just to win sometimes. So you can look at the situation differently: you choose between one participant winning the jackpot or several participants winning smaller prizes. And I think the second option is more fun. If people only participated here for the most-most desired games, then winning something big from the wish list would be cool. So I think it is better to give several participants a cupcake each, than a huge cake to one.

I think bunch of little games is more fun than one expensive game because there will be more people who get to win something and it's always fun to discover some new games through Steamgifts.
