Means you need to play it in Uplay usually, basically when you launch the game you have to log into a uplay account, its not a huge deal but a slight annoyance.

Yes, at the system requirements you can see you need an uPlay account and an internet connection for activation :)

When you try to launch the Ubisoft game through steam Uplay will open which is Ubisoft's game launcher. It does require an account and an internet connection to install Uplay and any client updates. If your game is bought through steam all game updates will be done through their. Also if you have friends you want to play Co-op or multiplayer with you have to add them and join them through Uplay.

I don't think you need permanent internet connection.Maybe it depends on the game...

I use Enhanced Steam and it gives me that warning on Ubisoft games. What exactly does happen if I want to play an Ubisoft game? Do I have to make an extra account for that? Does it need an internet connection? Anything special I should know about it?
