Red Dead Redemption (sorry not on PC though ;P)

LoL what? so you call good story being carried along a huge map doing favours to everyone and getting trashed after? sorry but no, the only good story on RDR is on the last 60-120minutes of gameplay, the rest is 100% filler story ( ok maybe not 100, but 80-70 for sure )

Sorry if you didn't understand ;P but looking at your most played games, you wouldn't know a good story lol. And I don't really see how the side missions are the story? They are just make it so there are something else to do when you aren't playing the main missions.. And I'd like to see you get through the game in 2 hours only doing the main missions hahaha Xp. And i don't care what you say, the strange man side missions are a masterpiece.

Ps: Skyrim's story is crappy.

They are all RPGs with bland stories. Witcher is a fun game but I wouldn't say it was a great story.

I hate to give this argument, but its true. Whether a story is good or bad is subjective. You like some things that I don't. Its completely normal. I get where you're coming from though. There are some things that shouldn't exist but do.

PS. I never played or tried RDR, I'm actually referring to cliche movies.

Funny thing how you had to check my profile first to defend RDR, didnt you have better arguments?

I liked RDR but not for his story ( again only worth the last part, the rest is the same courier boy story ) and did 100% completion in 24h. What I loved about RDR is the map and the gameplay.

Yes I did look because you can tell a lot about somebody from the things they like. Also why bother defending myself when I already know your response but w/e, you should have read the entire comment. And if you read I did give reasons lol; all your criticisms were the side missions to which I said that, for the most part, they had nothing to do with the main story and that I thought that the Stranger side missions were beautifully crafted with you understood them. By the way, it's ok to admit that you don't understand the literary value in the story. Just because that you do not like something does not mean that it is not good; I know a good story when I read it. For example, I've read Frankenstein and frankly I found it very boring, however I still understand that it is very thought provoking and had a lot of literary merit.

I didn't talk about side missions. Main quest missions are purely boring and repetitive until you reach the endgame, when it starts getting interesting, and then, it ends. The end is awesome, but until you get to that its basically "Help that man so he can help you, but you get betrayed" three or four times ( helping the fatman with horses to enter the fort, the mexicans to catch the bad guy, those poilcemen to help your family ). Those aren't side missions, well, sorry, they are, but you get forced to do them so you can continue

I don't know what you were expecting from a Rockstar type Sandbox game. Any way, I am talking about character construction, learning why the way things are and why they are doing it (ex: why John was in a gang and why he tried to justify it, why De Santa believes what he does about the government, why Reyes is a called "Man of the People" and his motivation for becoming one, Why people like the Marshal and Landon Ricketts are the way they are) , seeing John have to fight with the fact that he wants to redeem himself and live a quite life but is ultimately forced back into a chaotic existence in order to save his loved ones, when John finally seems to have redeemed himself he learns he can't escape his past and lead to his demise, that he wants a better life for his son but ultimately the choices he made are what make his son relive what his father went through. Honestly the characters make the story and they are crafted very well.

Edit: Sorry about the whole side missions thing, I guess I misread part of your comment.

Mass Effect can be very tedious, since you have to walk/drive long routes to get something/everything done. I played the game till the first main mission and then lost the save. Since then I only get to the Citadel, remember all of the running missions there and exit to do it sometime other. That was ~2 months ago.

Deus Ex series has the best story of any game I've played in a decade. A lot of RPGs in the vein of Mass Effect and The Witcher are great too. The best story game to come out in the last couple months is probably Spec Ops: The Line, but Max Payne 3 was pretty good too (in a more action movie sort of way).

Read the emails and stuff this time through. I mostly skipped them on my first playthrough, but they actually add a lot to the backstory and the whole conspiracy aspect of the storyline. Also, The Missing Link is pretty good and adds some cool background info on the main HR game, so grab it when it's on sale.

I've already read most emails to get the codes :D. However i didn't spend much attention to them :D. Yeah, i will fully read them the next time, including newspapers and ebooks. I played it without any DLCs and bought those 3 after that, i'm really excited to play it again with all DLCs :D

Dragon Age: Origins, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (though reading the supporting lore is best), Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (semi-truth. It's a really shit story, but you can't stop playing because you've just got to see what the train wreck will smash into next).

Main character ties with hayden christenson's anakin and jar jar binks for most worthless star wars character that should die a graphic and extremely gruesome death

  • Bastion - Highly recommend.
  • Braid - A hit-miss for some, if you can take the puzzles, highly recommend this one as well.
  • Machinarium - Another hit-miss, if you are okay with point-and-clicks, this is cool.
  • Fallout New Vegas - To be fair the story isn't THAT excellent, but it is pretty interesting.

And, sadly enough, that's all I can think of right off the bat.

I still prefer BG2 over PS:T because BG2 is a more 'complete' gaming experience - great gameplay as well as a pretty damn good story. PS:T is still the game with the best story I've ever played though, and I rank it just below BG2 for pretty much that reason alone.

Well PST is the best that we can agree on, but I am torn about BG(2) because..

All 3 are very good and I have to say again.. alot of people underestimate Icewind Dale.
