Too many comments. Don't know if someone mentioned Mafia 2. It is one of the best story-line focused, linear games of all time.(imo) Dunno if you played it, but if you didn't, get it on a sale. It doesn't have any replayability, and the city itself is just a backdrop. But you will get a really satisfying experience out of it by the end of the game. Other than that, I liked Mass Effect series. First time I played through, I couldn't stop playing, and just kept on going and going. ME1 was a bit dull, ME2 was a great face lift for the series, and ME3 did a great job of showing the stressful atmosphere. AC series as well. AC1, looking back now, is horrible, but when it came out, it was godly. Something that didn't have guns in it, while giving an experience, I had never experienced before.

Warcraft III had a solid story line that takes you through 4 unique races.

I highly recommend this game :D

Red Dead Redemption

Witcher has good story.

Hmm.. that's a tough one.

If you have a PS3, I'd try Infamous (1 & 2). I found myself playing them start to end due to the storyline.
Again, on the ps3, Heavenly sword has an amazing story, and superb cinematics (the best I've seen/heard in a game to date); worth it if you can put up with the repetetive gameplay.

If you really, really like story then my biggest recommendation would be Xenosaga. Trouble is it's ps2 and NTSC only. The unqiue thing about the game is the ridiculously long (but very good) cinematics. The game is literally 70% story rest gameplay, but that's one of the reasons I loved it. IF you can somehow get a playable copy, highly reecommended. I actually have a NTSC (legit, bought) copy that I can no longer play as I foolishly sold my chipped ps2 years ago. I really want to play it too.

Another great story RPG is lunar the silver star: it's been re-released on many platforms including psp. So if you have a console that can play it, go for it.

Binary Domain, i didnt expect it to be that great! but try it! its worth it

Call of Juarez 1&2, Half Life 1&2, Magicka(hilarious story), Machinarium!, Mafia 2, Hitman series and of course the Assassin's Creed series.
