As an S4 Mini owner I say the S5 Mini. That said I'd go Sony Z3 or Z3 compact.

There's quite a difference in size. There's a difference in cpu speed. There's a difference in camera quality. There are other differences. I'd go with the A5, it has a bigger screen and is much thinner.

how about an amazon fire phone?

• it's extremely cheap
• it has great technical capabilities, look it up
• the design is awesome

the only real downsides is the missing google play store as well as a GUI which is not customizable; much like iOS. but considering the price, it's a great deal. I myself own it for 6 months now and never regret the decision to pick it up for $100. before that, I was always a sony guy so if you want a recommendation for a high-end smartphone, pick a Sony Xperia Z3. samsung is cheap plastic crap.

lenovo would be my pick for a new phone. both cheap and sophisticated.
