Whenever i review reputation on steam, i would see that, there are certain people that should be not be in Steam trade. I can see that few of them are simply trolling, while there are people with repeated offense ( known scammer, repeatedly try to scam people, etc)

Therefore, some kind of filtering or defense mechanism should be implemented to stop these people from smearing Steam Trade

Should permanent/temporary ban be given to people that are scammers, trollers, etc.

Yes, Ban him!
No, give him a chance
I don't care
Being scammed is your own fault.

Steamtrades is a mess at it's given state. Even if you permaban someone, all it takes is to create another account and continue scamming.

Please re-activate some minimal account value limit to use SteamTrades too.

How are they scamming? I wouldn't trade with someone who's Steam level level 5 with few games on their account - too risky.

You not doing does not mean everyone avoids them.

Steamtrades should have a new system of mod's to tidy that place up :D, I volunteer XD

you can drop the "new", it just needs a system of mods period. afaik there isn't a single one there still, only the admin. ;)

Well i have never seen the admin anywhere tho :(

that's what i mean, it's been completely unmoderated since the database split and the support/mods here no longer had any privileges over there.

so really, it needs "a set of mods" in general, not a "new" set of mods to replace something that doesn't exist. xD

Do you know who has the main control /owner over the site now?

cg still does afaik. the database was split, but domain still kept.

As far as I saw it was always unmoderated and essentially 'left to the wolves' or whatever, so the onus was on the individual to take the needed steps to avoid becoming a victim of any type of scam. I made over 100 trades prior to the database split and never once came even close to getting scammed (although a few foolishly tried), so I don't really understand where people may be going wrong. From my perspective it's not that hard if you follow the right guidelines when trading. You just have to do your 'homework' so to speak.

yeah, there isn't any moderation that can be done about actual scams. but it's the advertising, spamming, harassing, and accounts used purely for fake reviewing that still needs moderation.

yeah, and lowballing too.

that's also something that can't really be moderated. unless they spam lowball you, then it could be considered spam &/or inappropriate behavior.

i wish though, and understand where you're coming from. xD

You seem legit, I'd trade with you anytime.

Let me know if you're still interested in that goat. :-)

ST unmoderated
if someone somewhat ban user on ST he can create another account in minute coz no any basic verification, its heaven of scammers.
Nothing to do with ST, admin dont care and never replied on ST problem, all what is changed we got one more ad on ST :D but make some at least simple soultion... no (at least that stupid $100 verification)

some sort of verification, if placed, will surely prevent scammers to get back with a new account etc. Also a perma ban when someone is already banned from steamrep is another way to prevent scam from happening cause i have seen traders with 300+ reputations, who is eventually banned twice on steamrep is still trying to take advantage of new users. Also a mod can be assigned and mod can temp/perma ban anyone upon checking and validating reports etc. All this would make steamtrade a better place.

It went pretty downhill after the split and removal of any controls.

What do you mean? There's no reputation system on Steam.

Should permanent/temporary ban be given to people that are scammers, trollers, etc.

Are you talking about a Steamtrades ban? What difference will it make? If someone has an overwhelmingly negative reputation on Steamtrades you should read the negative posts and decide if you should trade with that person.

You don't need extra layers of protection and security - you simply need to do exactly what you did. check out their steam profile and make a judgement call. Relying on a third party with lazy mod support to give you a yes/no on whether its safe to trade with someone, is a recipe for disaster. Cant beat your own gut, intuition and common sense to keep yourself safe.

But it sometimes slips, accidents happened, so do mistakes, and those sharks always looking for new people to scam. Not everyone is well aware of it.

Why not? Still of some value (even if far less than when I started here) and way better than profile rep. Do you know any better alternative?

Nope :/ I'm just a very occasional trader that has only used steamtrades, I haven't used barter, didn't even know it doesn't have a feedback system

Completed or failed trades act as a sort of feedback system. But always better to consider all sources.
