Maybe he should turn off Steam Cloud for that game.

I never faced such a problem, but on the basis of logic I agree with you: "I dont think the accounts are connected anymore so I wouldn't think so"

my understanding is that it used your cloud save for his game. the best way around that that I can think of would be for him to disable cloud saving for that game, restart steam, double check that cloud saving is disabled, and then just restart his game. because cloud saving was off both local saves should stay safe and not be overwritten.

If you're using the same computer for both logins, it's worth noting it appears to always use the same local data for any login.
In that circumstance, even playing offline or with cloud disabled would still cause some issues, since it'd still overwrite local data.
If you're playing on separate computers, you'll want to make sure cloud saving for the game is totally and consistantly off, since it could potentially overwrite your cloud data as soon as local data on his computer syncs.
Either way, your best option is just to make sure your local data is backed up before anything else (that way you can replace it if it ever does get overwritten).

Hey guys. You all know more about steam then I do so I have a question.
I have a friend who wanted to play a game that I had (hands of fate) so we turned on family sharing so that he could test it out before he bought it. He just bought the game though and when he started it up on his account, it had my save data there instead.
We figured it was due to the family sharing and we disabled that (picture below). The problem is that even though family sharing is disabled, it still has my save data on his game and account.
I have no idea how this all works. If he deletes my save data thats on his account, will it delete the save data on my account as well? I dont think the accounts are connected anymore so I wouldn't think so, but I don't want to risk my data being deleted since I'm almost at the end of the game.
Hope that wasn't all too confusing. If you made it this far have a small gib and thanks ahead of time for the help.
